For the last couple months my 2 year olds one eye has been watering and I also noticed her yawning a lot. I was thinking she was having some kind of pressure in her sinus's. I had the vet out. She didn't seen to think it was allergies because its only one eye watering. We flushed tear ducts and she gave me an antibiotic cream. Couple weeks went by, still no better. Vet came out again and did an eye exam with the dyes and stuff. Said she couldn't see anything wrong. The vet thinks shes yawning because the pressure of her baby teeth. Well needless to say that one eye is STILL watering and she yawns/stretches her jaw all the time. I've heard of them yawning from GI problems, but I think it has something to do with some kind of pain/pressure in her face and not her teeth. The two problems could be totally unrelated I don't know. Has anyone had anything like this?

What the way you would dx a gutteral pouch infection? Blood? The vet palpated all over her face and throat area. Nothing was out of the ordinary. No nasal drainage and any swelling anywhere. Shes a healthy little horse besides the two things.

Also to add. We checked out her mouth too. No abscesses or sores. She did have some points so she was floated.

My vet checks my horses every time she does their teeth or does any chiro work.

Our 8 year old gelding stretches his jaw and turns his head sideways sometimes when he eats. We've had his teeth done twice in the last 2 years, and three vets have looked at him and can't find anything wrong with him. The last vet saw him Sat and mentioned maybe guttural pouch infection. There's no tearing or drainage anywhere. I've about decided it's a habit, just "Lynn". Maybe there was something at one time going on but now he does it just cause. Not any help, am I?!!
