We are looking pretty seriously at moving here in 2 years due to my husbands job and wondered what it's like? I've heard racism is bad which I'm not excited about but is there lots to do? Safe? Boarding facilities? how is the housing market? Or anything else you know. We're thinking of taking a trip here sometime so we can get a better idea of if it's someplace we'd want to live. We're in Kansas now so it will be a change I'm thinking.

It will be a huge change for you.  And, frankly, I would give anything to live where you do.  But my husband's job won't allow it.  I would not move to that area for anything.  There is barrel racing, but way more where you live.

Phew, good luck. I live between Atlanta & Chattanooga. I avoid Atlanta. I certainly wouldn't go up I85 for anything. Traffic is bad on good days, and most days are just bad. Try to stay out of the immediate area and if you gotta, get rural, go way outside of the Duluth/Atlanta area to live. Wayyy out. There is a lot of horse activities to be had, you gotta look. All are in the rural areas outside of Atlanta Fulton county. And if you don't already know, it gets HOT down here, really hot.
But with that said, and if you are determined to come south, welcome.

We would live around Duluth or North of there for sure, definitely not Atlanta! I'm not super into barrel racing at this point in my life so a few shows here and there would be great. I've heard it can be pretty hot! Southern, KS can though too, that was a HUGE change for me moving here from Michigan. We'd just like to experience something different, getting bored with where we live now.. have been here 5 years and will def be here about another 2. What fun Touristy things do you all do?

I lived in Rome, which is about 45 minutes northwest of Atlanta. I loved Rome! Great neighborhood, I rode reining horses for a few months, and got the chance to exercise racehorses in South Georgia. Lots of BBs there!
There are a ton of NBHA and other races in south TN near Chatanooga, which isn't a far drive, and all over Georgia. Excellent barrel racing.

If you can get away with living in/near Rome, DO IT. It's a beautiful city with some upscale areas. Plus you are fairly close to TN and could attend barrel races there. Definitely stay away from Atl. Its not the best place and like others have said, traffic is awful.  We live down in middle Georgia, right below Macon and we like this area. It's not nearly as pretty as the northern part of the state but its still nice. Just get ready for gnats and the awful humidity. You get used to it though and know when it's appropriate to go outside lol.
