| My horse had a small puncture in her front hoof almost 6 weeks ago. Vet treated her with antibiotics and tetanus shot and wrapping hoof with dressing and a boot. Now,the hole is almost closed up and I have been riding and exercising her with boot on. My vet she can go to barrel race and to leave the boot on until right before I run. I was thinking of using the Magic Cushion, but she is barefoot. Will it help to put the Magic Cushion on and not wrap and then make a run? I will still use the boot on the cement and hard surfaces and when she is in her stall. Any advice appreciated. |

| if you can keep the magic cushion on her feet while in the boots that would be helpful . .. apply and maybe try a piece of brown paper from a bag or gauze anything to help that stay on a non shod foot :) |

| When my mare had a hole in her hoof from an abscess I put pads on her To keep debris out.. And used m.c under them |

| Thanks,I've never worked with the Magic Cushion,so wasn't sure if it stuck to the hoof pretty good or not by itself. |

| The stuff is very sticky, a little goes a long way, don't over apply or it will get into the hair and is difficult to get out.
For yourself use gloves
And I use a great pad and vet wrap it on till it sets then it usually stays in place |

| OK,great tips!! So,if it sticks on,can I still get enough traction to run with it on?

Location: mi | It probably won't stay on for the run. But it can't hurt. You use no more then like a golf ball size ball of it. it is super sticky. If I wanted to try that I would put it on and then find some nice fresh shavings for her to put her foot down in. That would give you a small barrier to help it stay for awhile. But really with out it being wrapped and you out riding her it is probably not going to last long enough to really worry about. I would just be sure when you are done to clean the hoof out well and then pack in the Magic Cushion and wrap it up for the rest of the day or next couple of days.
It should not effect her traction or anything during your run if you want to give it a try. |
