Those of you that deal with it a lot, what is the safest payment method when selling a trailer to a buyer in another state?

So there's no way they can reverse or cancel it? I would hate to get scammed!

Wire transfer is correct. No a wire is instant money in your account.

I would call your bank to verify. But when we sold trailers that was the way we got money from out of state customers.

if it's really a scammer you're screwed either way. If you are worried about it I wouldn't give them my account number, address and name. If they are legit, as in they talk to you on the phone or come see the trailer in person, then you are probably fine to accept a wire transfer or official check. ....I would however call their bank to verify that it is real. Look up the number for the bank, don't let them, give you the number.

kind of a rule of thumb.... take purchase price of new trailer. subtract 25% of value for first year and 5% for each additional year... will give you a retail ball park figure.

If I used that to calculate the value of my trailer now I would not get anything for it. The same trailer as mine cost 55% more than mine today. I would like to think that my Elite has appreciated a little. I really do not think that a $100,000 Bloomer depreciates $25,000 the first year.
