Just as the title says, what is the difference between the 2 EHV vaccinations? I'm wanting to breed my mare in the spring, so would like to ensure success and make sure my mare has all the necessary care and vaccines, so would like to know the difference. I've vaccinated my mare for years with the Fluvac 4/1 with the EHV as I had her out competing, and I know Pneumabort is the vaccine for pregnant mares, but I'm unsure of the difference (if any) of the different strains of the virus and likewise the vaccines. Thanks!

You must give the killed virus to a pregnant mare.

Pneumabort is given to pregnant mare at 5 months 7 months and 9 months. It is specifically for pregnant mares. The EHV is for horse that are not pregnant also males.

I've been googling and it looks like the Fluvac 4/1 is safe for pregnant mares (according to a few websites that sell it) so it looks like it's all good! If anything you would think they would make it in bold print if you couldn't use it on pregnant mares! Good question though, funny timing too as you posted this right after I bought it today!

Thank you, that was the answer I was looking for! I wasn't sure if the same strains were covered or not!
