I'm ready to try some kick chains on my horse while trailering. Pawing bracelets on the back feet don't work.

Do YOU put them on above hock or at pastern??

I use hobbles and hobble the back feet together so they can't kick. I have never had an issue with this. My horses stand to put them on and stand to take them off. I had a gelding kick so bad he knocked the back door off my trailer.

We just use hobbles on my gelding, never had luck with kick chains. He also is worse about striking than kicking though.

I've tried the bracelets and they didn't work... tried hobbles they worked for a bit then the horse figured out he could just make little pawing steps.  I have a mare that paws when I go out to feed, she is in a 14X14 stall...I'm thinking of gettng a training shock collar for dogs and put it on just above the fetlock, try that.

I would much prefer sideline hobbles. This is what we use. Really bad kicking horses have a tendency to hurt themselves and the pain of chains and the bracelets can make them actually kick harder.

I strongly believe that sideline hobbles are both safer and more effective.

Here are good quality sideline hobbles. Horses can move around in them but they cannot kick. The best for a horse that kicks in a trailer.

Also a picture of how they are worn.

Use breeding hobbles, then they can spread their legs to balance, but they can't kick.
