Location: Texas | I believe 15.5 or 15.4 is the arena record.. on their Thursday night pattern anyways.. Some associations run on larger patterns there. I'd say anything 16.2 or faster is a nice run. Lots of horses have ground trouble there. |

Apparently, there was a new arena record set tonight by Shelly Morgan. I was wondering about the ground,. So, if a horse ran a mid 7 there on a Thursday night with a bit of a slip at the third barrel, it could be considered legitimate? |

So, if a horse ran a mid 7 there on a Thursday night with a bit of a slip at the third barrel, it could be considered legitimate? Absolutely. I will say though I'm friends with a girl who has a horse that's as consistent as they get and she wins quite often out there at the weekly jackpot- usually an 8, but that horse is 2D at bigger shows. So if you're looking for just local stuff I would count that, but lots of time horses that rarely run in the arena don't do as well as those that run every week.
Basically it's one of those arenas where if the horse really gets the ground down it's not hard to make fast runs because so many of the other horses struggle, if that makes any sense
eta: If said horse was new to the arena and ran a 7 I would expect 5-6 next week because most horses don't get a good feel for the ground right away.
