Location: Monticello, AR | I know my vet would have to ok a prescription, but is there anywhere to order the 1000 cc bottles of omeprazole straight from a vet supply company? Clinics get too much of my money for one....trying to cut out the middle man! |

I use this myself... just a warning that the 60 CC tubes are cheaper, but MESSY. I ended up wearing some.... all over my face... though on the plus side they smell just like vanilla cake batter. :)
Also, they are a less effective prep. This site is not a 100% legit compunder, and I have hear tellings that this product contained less concentration of the active ingredient when tested by an outside lab.
That being said, I will still use it due to the price point, but my horse doesn't have ulcers either. I will use it as a preventative during stressful times. |

Location: Jersey Girl | Abler also does the granuales and you don't need a script for them either. I am concerned about ordering from these places since they are not FDA approved and who knows what they are actually putting in there. |

Location: South Central Florida | I do use the Horseprerace Omeprazol on our mare. She was diagnosed with ulcers via scope a year ago. There was no way I could aford $35 a day for a month, then half that for 2 more weeks. It was just not an option. I assume it is not everything the Ulcerguard is. I got several tubes of Ulcerguard given to me, then at a show I won 5 tubes of Gastroguard. I think I purchased about 5 more, the rest was the Horseprerace product. She was scoped a few months ago and is ulcer free. I give the Horseprerace product before every race, before every trailer ride, and for every day that they are on the road. I has changed the horse. I can't believe how much different she runs and eats.
I just wish the "real" product was more affordable, but it is what it is.

| After some reading I decided to do 1/4 dose for 30 days so for about $200 I can do that and put my mare on the curost stomach. You can get 6 doses of ulcerguard on smartpak for $193.50 right now or a 30 day dose from equinerxsolutions for $200 just have to get a script from vet for them. I have not used then before so wasn't sure how it worked. My mare just had a bad episode the other day where she was in a lot of pain after a dose of ulcer meds she was much better so have to get her doctored again and healed up hopefully . I have also used the horseprerace stuff we did 30 days one tube a day on another horse. It did seem to help her. |

It might smell good but don't get it in your mouth! I've been using the horseprerace stuff on my guy and didn't have a free hand to open it the other day... Used my teeth, must have been some on the cap and YUCK! Horses are saints if they stand to have that stuff put in their mouths lol |

Location: Monticello, AR | Well, I did the 30'days of paste with omeprazole and rantidine and 3 days after the month long regimen, she quit eating again. Took her and has an endoscopy and she had active bleeding ulcers. So they put her on 30 cc straight omeprazole for a month, then 15 cc for a month, and then 7 cc. She has been on the 7cc for a month, plus smart pak for the last 2 months. She feels good, eats good, and I feel like she is at 100 percent right now. This is just a 2 yr old....I think a bad access in feb that had to be VERY painful began the ulcers....had to give her banamine 2 or 3 times. Anyway, I want to keep her on the smart pak, but have the omeprazole handy for stress situations, if she seems to be having problems again. I'm just not too confident in the other ulcer meds....would rather trust what worked for her. |
