I am going to the BFA sale this year (first time ever!!!!)Can you get pretty good deals? I've seen last years results and looks like the prices are more than fair but I can't tell if the low prices are on yearlings or what. I will be looking at 2 and 3 year olds, not wanting to spend over 4k, doesn't need to be started on the pattern, and doesn't have to be an own son or own daughter anything super special. Think I am going to find what I'm looking for? I really don't want to waste my time and be disappointed if everything goes for way out of my budget. Any advice or experience with buying from this sale? (or any sale for that matter, Ive never even been to one)

4k will be the cheap side of maybe 2 or 3... Nice looking colts in the catalog this year. Lots of them.

There is always some deals to be had.  Definitely plan on watching the sale previews.  Additionally if you can fit it in your schedule, hang around the barn where the sale horses are stalled and you will probably get the opportunity to watch horses being exercised and handled, as well as talk to the consigners etc.

I looked at the catalog thinking maybe I could get a good deal on something well bred then after I looked through it I was disappointed for even thinking it was possible. There are a lot of nice horses in there! Even looking around the internet for a futurity prospect for a good price is almost impossible. I understand though that a lot of cost is in one that is well started.

Two and three year olds is what most are looking at.  I think you may do better looking at weanlings or yearlings.
There is a 3 y.o. filly "Nothing But Fame" 15.2, 1200 lbs. buy Dash Ta Fame and out of Biankus French Girl.  Biankus French Girl is a World Record holder.  She is suppose to be started.
Don't over look A Streak of Scarlett a 2014 stallion by A Streak of Fling and out of a several time NFR qualifier Royal Scarlett.

I have wanted that mare since I saw the first video of her. Not only do I like her as an individual, but I really appreciate the sort of training that has been put into her. I know what she was priced at when initially offered for sale. I don't expect for her to sell much below that. Especially with the three year olds at the BFA... most of them are entered in the Juvi. Depending on how that first round goes, a lot of things can change with regard to what a seller will let one go for.

I agree, the picture doesn't make her look like much. Unlike most situations though, I don't think that will determine whether, or not, she sells as she should
