Location: Phoenix | Yes, it's old, but I found one with only 59,000 miles on it in pristine condition. Hubby would drive it the 2 miles to work and I would use it to haul a small trailer and horse here and there. I know the gas mileage would be terrible but gas is pretty cheap right now. Do you have any other thoughts or reasons for hesitation? I'd be financing...about $12k total..... Interest-rate is a little high because of the age of vehicle.....undecided!!

Location: WI | Oof, I bought my 97 f250 in 2007 with 103k miles on it for $8k. Have you run a kbb on it? I get about 7-8mi pulling my 3h gn. Not great but it's paid for! |

Location: Montana | Pretty good truck overall, probably a 460 engine? So like you say, a little hard on gas, but mechanically probably a very solid truck. Overall I'd say the price is a little too high, but then again where would you find another one? Ha-ha, I'm no help. If it fits what you can afford and what works for you, that is what you should do. :) |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | That seems like a very high price for that truck. Like linds said, check kbb.com first. Second, google "Common problems 1995 Ford F250 gas" you might include the engine description in the search criteria. That will give you an idea of where to start looking on this truck to be sure you're not buying something that is going to need a bunch of repairs right away. |

Location: Phoenix | Thanks for the replies. Yes, 460. XLT. Like you said MT, little high but where else would I find this combo of low miles and great condition? Dave Ramsey would kill me but I feel like if I don't do this now, I won't get a truck for another 4-5 years and I want to be able to haul my horse around and GO places before he croaks!! Still deciding. |

| We have a '95 F250 with 130,000 miles. It's been a good truck for us. My husband used to use it as a daily driver and to pull a trailer, a 3 horse gooseneck or his ranch trailer. Now we use it to pull our water trailer. I would take a closer look at the value, that price seems awfully high. |

Jump on it ... when you look at new trucks with no towing ability running 40k++ this is a rare find!!
Just have $2k in your pocket to do your general maintenance items ... change spark plugs, new belts, hoses, anti-freeze, thermostat, oil change, transmission fluid and filter, air filter and maybe tires .. most of these things will look good but are aged due to truck being rarely used ... and will break down once you put it into daily service ... over heating damage to an engine and dirty transmission fluid kills most trucks ...
Look in your newspaper at what kind of junk 12k will buy ... this truck fills your needs so ... .. GO JUMP ON IT ... !!

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Have you tryed to talk them down a little on the truck? If it fits your needs try talking them down a bit, but if its what you want and need get it, but I would first have a good mechanic go over it to make sure it dont have any costly problems. |

MIne is also the 460, XLT - is it 4WD? Mine is and also had the 5th wheel and brake controller in it. Just do a KBB and use that when you go in to negotiate. I now have 130k miles on it and my kbb is like $4-5k. It has been a great truck for me. |

WOW, that is extremely high...I bought a 2000 Ford 3/4 ton 4WD gas with hydraulic bale spike flatbed on it (operated from the cab...yeah!) a few years ago from one of my customers so I had a second truck to put round bales out with and do things in the pasture like carry limbs to the burn pile, pull up cedars , haul rock etc...I paid $6500 for it...solid awesome truck that I won't sell, it runs like a top and the fuel mileage is ok, negligable for what I use it for...
Edited...meant to tell you it had 180k on it when I bought it, runs like a top. I use it a lot and it's a no problem truck.

| I'm no truck guru lol but I what I haul with is a '79 Dodge 4wd powerwagon, bought from an old cowboy ( original owner) for a thousand dollars, long story short put in new motor, tranny, drive shaft & went thru everything and I'll tell you that truck is heavy, strong and will pull my gooseneck 5 horse out of the deep snow without a problem. Gas mileage is terrible and he's ugly, but does the job for me :) |

| My husband, Mom, and I all owned the F250 460 engine trucks back in 1990. Never failed us, but we never got over 9 mpg. Never had a problem pulling 2 or 3 horses with them. |
