Location: Northern Ontario | I have been wanting this saddle since I have seen it on vacation in july. Its a 14.5" martin fx3 barrel saddle (i think) with a 7.5 inch gullet. Anyway, its still for sale but my mare is hard to fit. She has a wide flat back ( she is only 4 too). What do you think? Its a 2700$ saddle she is currently ridden in a 7" billy cook with cj tree. It fits on the withers ok, but the back tips up because she doesnt have enough withers. I also had a lynn mckenzie special that I loved, but its didnt sit of her right and was squishing her shoulders...

Location: on my horse | Martins have some rock to them which aren't good for flat backs and she's going to keep growing and changing so rather than drop the $$$$$ on this one I would look for a used or try something near you so you can actually set it on her back. If she's a nearly impossible fit go treeless if you can, I did that with my mare and the change has been amazing.
Also, that's a Crown C I'm 99.9% sure seeing as how I just sold one lol |

Location: California | I would pass on that saddle simply because it doesn't look like it has the Hamley twist to the stirrups. I ride in a crown c and tried an fx3 that did not have the Hamley twist and could not believe how uncomfortable it was and how much I disliked it. I really wanted to like the saddle too. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | From pictures alone, no. It doesn't look like it will fit her. And when you're speaking of a reasonable amount of money, I would want to test a saddle. Last TWO times I've bought saddles, they haven't fit. And I was only able to send one back...

| If you are looking at a fx3, you can customize one for the same price, you just have to shop around. For that saddle it isn't really a deal.
A fx3 I would suggest going custom and getting a flat bar, as others have said the regular martins have quite a bit of rock in their tree. I have both flat and regular crown c and one mare I can actually ride in either and she has a much higher wither then yours.
Also I would say I wouldn't go any narrower then a 8.5. My 3 yr old who is narrower I am riding in a 8.5 and shimming.
As for why your saddles are not fitting is the same issue both of those saddles have too much rock in the tree for the horses back.
Saddles you can try
Lynn Mackenzie with a Neuva tree
Tod sloan b3 bars
Caldwell has a flat bar
Psc has a flat bar
Billy cook may have one, the tag says 2031 or 2030 it is a Lynn Mackenzie tree it is wider and seems to be flatter, I ride my colts in one.
Don't try the Lisa Lockhart, I tried it on my flat backed mare, and she actually became cold backed, it left rub marks by her wither, too much rock in the tree.

I was too but I talked to a few girls on her and other places and I LOVE my treeless. I went with a Jackie and it was the best decision ever, my horse is riding better, I like the feel of the saddle and I don't feel like I'm trapped in it at all and still have full movement with my legs which is what I was afraid of losing. I talked to my vet and horse chiro and with her build and big shoulders it was the best option. I even ride it on my gelding and he's built totally different but it works and is comfortable for both of us. no rubs, even sweat patterns, no soreness, no special pad, no anything weird and I've been riding the crap out of it for several months and her back is fine and she's moving out so much better. I called horse tack world and talked to felicia and she's amazing! helped me out a ton, like 2 hours on the phone helped me out. she's very knowledgable about treeless saddles, I was torn between trying a JBN and my Jackie and she felt that the jackie would be better and I agree after riding it. I even talked Herbie into getting one and she loves it too lol |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I was told by Connie Combs, that you can buy a bendable ruler at the crafts store. Measure/mold it over the withers, trace on to a template or paper. Measure over the middle of the back, and again over where the rear of the saddle will sit. Trace them as well. And then send it in for a properly fitted saddle. GRANTED, I haven't tried it. But that's what I was told. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I would think that you need a saddle that dont have much rock to it, I have a Crown C That fits pretty good on my horses except one he needed more rock to the saddle. Your horse has no dip and if this saddle has not much rock to it it might be a OK fit I would call Martin and ask them what type of bars it has. |
