I don't know how to make a link on my tablet. This was posted by a friend on Facebook. Dr Hartman from Mid Rivers Equine Center in MO has developed a procedure that is less invasive than surgery for horses with kissing spines. I do not think this was designed to replace surgery however I do think it was developed go help avoid surgery. You can Google Dr Hartman and ISLD.

Location: Wasagaming, Manitoba, Canada		My vet has been doing this procedure for a little while now up here. I'ts definitely less invasive and horse's come back relatively quick comparatively. The biggest thing is making sure people are diligient on the their rehab. Lots of horses have travelled wrong for so long, they need to be taught how to use their bodies correctly again. 

There's quite a few that have been done here and seem to have success with it. 

I'd be curious what the deciding factors are when it comes to which procedure is done.

Location: In my own world		That is the "lig snip" procedure. It may be new here in the states but is pretty common in the UK from what I've researched. I visited with Dr Honas who does the traditional operation because my mare has KS. He has mixed feelings about it. He says nerve ending will grow back eventually so he is unsure of how long the discomfort will be gone. My mare is being managed, true test will be this summer, with injections for now.

If anyone is considering this I recommend talking to Dr Honas. He's a funny guy and full of good advice!!
