Location: OH-IO | So, my child is turning one in about a month.... we are having a small party (close family only). Since santa was so good to the little guy, I am looking for a way to ask for gift cards to go towards his next big boy car seat. Our house is tiny and he was overloaded with toys and clothes at christmas, we literally cannot fit anymore here!
Something like: Santa was so good to me, I have toys and toys galore, So for my birthday I ask, For a gift card to the Babies R Us store!
Any ideas on how to ask for giftcards without being offensive?

Location: East Texas | I think that is very cute... you might add a little sentence underneath your little poem like:
Help this momma out by getting a gift card from Babies R Us so that we can get (little guys' name) a big boy car seat to keep him safe!! That way, they will know what you are wanting to do!

| I would put on the invitation "if you feel the need to buy a gift, please help support his need for a new car seat by buying a gift card to Babies R Us in lieu of toys or clothes."

Great wording, not implying they have to bring a gift. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I think that is a cute way to put it and not offensive at all. When my first was 1, we wanted to envite the entire community (very very small town) because so many of them helped take care of him while I worked until I found a regular in home daycare. Literally the entire town knew him. I didn't want every one thinking we just wanted gifts so I put on their invitation let your presence be your present. |
