Location: Heart of Texas | I have the dorkious snorkious (yes those are real words) gelding alive.
Why would a horse snort/blow really loud after you run? Only a good run, mind you. While he is prancing out of the pen like a Mexican parade horse, he snorts/blows to his competitors. I'm guessing to show how superior he is to them? This dude has an ego the size of Texas, despite only being 13.33333 hands tall. He really thinks he is a some giant super horse in his mind.
He was a stud until he was five, although never bred. We have had a lot of soundness problems, ulcers etc........ now he seems sound and is working his hiney off.
Is he just a dork? Anybody else ever had one do this?

| I have a gelding that anything will make him blow his nose. Shut the front door and his head flys up and he snoooorts and blows and steps around like he's Hot Stuff. When my mare is feeling fresh she will snort with each front foot step, but I think she is just entertaining herself.
My old barrel horse would have rollers in his nose for the first 5-10 minutes of me getting on and I knew to just sit there until he stopped and was relaxed! |

Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs | There was a girl years ago and she had a gelding that after he ran he would knicker real loud. And it wasn't just with her, it was whoever rode him. Like he was saying..."take that by god and see if you can outrun me"! He was super tough to outrun too. It's like he knew he made a great run and wanted everyone to know it. |

Location: NE Texas | I would bet he trying to clear phlegm out of his airways. The prance could be nothing but adrenaline or could be anxiety induced. This was the first sign of when my horse's respiratory issues began. He would get a little hot after a run and snort. Then he got more agitated after a run and would cough and run sideways, leap in the air. Mind you, still running bottom of the 1D. Went from bad to worse and did so quickly. |

This was the first sign of when my horse's respiratory issues began. He would get a little hot after a run and snort. Then he got more agitated after a run and would cough and run sideways, leap in the air. Mind you, still running bottom of the 1D. Went from bad to worse and did so quickly. I was wondering that too. He is never even out of breath though. I never seen a horse with more wind than him, but he does have allergies. He gets really congested during the summer has been treated for it. The vet doesn't seem to think it's a serious problem. He's not coughing now, but could still have a little phlegm. He is a big dork too. So it could be that:)

Location: Tulsa, Ok | The mare my daughter runs ALWAYS rolls her head down, looks at her front feet and snorts/blows when she is waiting to run. It is like she is telling her feet "get ready, we are gonna make a run". |

I have a gelding that is a giant dork too! Cracks me up daily!
My mare had allergies too, until I treated them

| My semi retired mare neighs really loud after a run. Its something she's always done. I dont remember when that started but its her thing to do. |
