Location: Louisiana | I've been riding my main man in a treeless for years now. It fits him best, he likes it best, I've grown to love them also. BUT, Diane Guinn had posted one day about making sure it's sitting far enough back. And her reasons make sense, and I realized mine is a little too far forward... I can't get the dang thing to stay back!! I push it back and it slides back up on his shoulders. Grrrr. I'm using a Saddleright.
Today as I was fighting with it, I though a shim might help. He is built slightly downhill, could that be causing it to want to come forward? I have a thicker pad, I may try that also. The Saddleright seems like it's working against me, as much as I love it. Maybe a thicker pad will stay put more, I don't know!!
Maybe I'm just a crazy perfectionist lol. | |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Post a picture of your horse saddled up so we can see, but I dont think you can shim a treeless, but I may be wrong. What type of treeless is it? Is it the standard are a wide fitting? | |

I had a Bob Marshall and bought a new Tammy Fischer in July. Regular. I don't think he needs a wide.
Its so weird. I think it fits good, but I can't slide it further back for the life of me. Like, I have pushed, shimmied, pulled, and it is always in the same spot lol. Maybe it doesn't need to go back?? | |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | It honestly sounds too narrow... I have a Circle Y JBN I'm trying to unload because it's too narrow. It does exactly what you are saying. It wants to sit up high no matter what I do. I've tried countless pads of different thicknesses. Wedges, shims. It always works its way back up over her withers. So poo, money down the drain. Lol. I hope you can get if fixed. And if you can, please tell me what magical voodoo you used. | |
