Found a wonderful pony for my daughter. Despite the fact the wind was blowing, a stud paced in a stall next to her, she hadn't been ridden in weeks and was being fed rich alfalfa, she worked for my timid eight year old daughter in a halter and lead rope. Seems to have a good stop on her, but pretty energetic. What would you recomend? Pony hack? Snaffle? My daughter is just beginning, so i want a happy mouth, but something that will reinforce also. Dakota's goal is to gymkhana on this pony.

I would say something with a longer shank so she will have some leverage. I don't think your daughter is strong enough to hurt her.

I agree. Or perhaps
(and I absolutely hate these overall
) a mechanical hackamore, due to the amount of leverage available.

Okay. And yes, Dakota is only fifty pounds even at her age. She isn't aggressive at all.

Do you have a " small" more experienced rider available that can get on snicker's and find out just how much snicker's knows? It could go a long way in deciding what bit to use.

I agree. I would be hesitant to put more than a 3 piece snaffle on her for now. Beginner riders always get nervous and grab on to the reins/bit. Putting a curb with leverage will probably cause more problems than not for now.
