Mare will not stop coming out of alley

My mare he recently not been wanting to stop coming out of the alley after a run. I used to run her in a hackamore so I moved up into an o ring combo. It didn't help. It worries me because I'm scared she will get worse and eventually not stop at all. Any advice would be appreciated. Please don't say to lighten her up in the mouth. She is very light at home but when it comes to an actual run.

My mare used to be like this. Treat the alley just like you do your actual slow work. . . I want my horses to know automatically when to rate at the barrel so I practice that in slow work. I do the same thing with the alley--whenever I get done with my pattern slow working I go to the alley and make her stop on her butt. Repetition repetition repetition of this
(at home and shows
) is how I got my mare to stop. Now she stops on her own leaving the alley, all I have to do is sit down.

Check to make sure she isnt bleeding. Sometimes when they start not stopping runn out its because they are bleeding and it scares them.

She will stop. Horses have no reason to run forever. Not wanting to stop when asked could possibly be a pain response. She could be bleeding or hurting. Have a thorough vet check before you throw a huge bit on her.

yes get her checked first...there is a little device called a whoamaker. Put it on under bridle attached to a very short set of reins that won't interfer with your run. than when it's ime to stop, just reach up m pull on that whoamaker...that horse will hunting a hole to bury hisself in.

I agree with the above poster and bleeding. My horse went from stopping perfectly after a run to running off and scaring the crap out of me. He was bleeding internally and never bled out so I didn't know for a while what the problem was. Once the bleeding was under control he went back to his normal self.

Since she went from stopping to not in a short time, I think it's more than just the beginning of a bad habit. Get your girl checked out and rule pain out first. Hopefully it's something small and you can fix the underlying issue first, then do some slow work with her.
