So, just recently realized that our 2 broodmares have these. Had vet out, he said to worm them with Ivermec. They still have them. I have NEVER had ticks on my horses before (located in Colorado), and am shocked. Have googled different remedies, but don't want to harm 2 preggo mares who are due in the next month....... please help!

I don't know about the safety with pregnant mares but we use a pour on for our horses. It's called permetrin cds of something like that. Kills ticks in under 24 hours and lasts a month at a time. I get it from Jeffers. You might want to look into that but like I said, check on its safety for your mares.

Ummm, if the ticks are already attached, how would that help? My understanding of DE is that when they ingest it, it's sharp edges basically tear them up on the inside.

Just trying to further my education.

Ultra Boss. It is a pour on. Know people that have used it for years on all ages of horses including in foal mares with no issues.

Permectrin is great. We use it every year with no issues. We also Ivermectin. Our mares have them as bad this year as any year. Nasty little boogers.
