Location: MI | Looking for experiences with different types of gooseneck hitches - specifically looking at B&W's turnover ball vs. other folding/retractable balls. (or others similar to these types). Going to call a few local places to get price quotes on installation, but figured this would be a good place to check for recommendations. (And i'll probably post over on the truck forum also) Thank you!

Will be intalled in a 2014 Toyota Tundra ..if that matters |

Agree. There's no comparison, in my opinion. |

| I have had both, the Atwood folddown hitch (still have it in 2006 dodge dually) and we had B&W in 2011 dually before we put a flatbed on it.
never had any problems with either, except you better make sure you check your bolts on the atwood periodically especially after pulling heavy loads.. the nuts tend to back off a little. We just tighten with air wrench once or twice a year to make sure.
Did have a B&W in our 3/4 ford also and the handle you pull to flip the ball bent after using it alot, so it wasnt as user friendly afterwards.

For everyone who loves the B&W - have you had others that were noticebly not as good, or you've just had such great luck with those that you havent had others? |

I've only ever used B&W because they are so awesome. Easy to turn the ball over when we need the truck for something other than towing the trailer:) |

Location: Oklahoma | I had the square plate with the flip up ball on my old truck. HATED IT. The plate cover got rusted and you never could get it open to put the ball down. I have a B&W now and will never be without one. Super easy to use and easy enough my 8 year old can do it. |

Location: Roping pen | Flat bed with welded, permanent mounted ball is my choice.
2nd choice is B&W. A little difficult to put on a Dodge as tolerances are real close between the box seam joint and the frame- and not much room to tighten the bolts-a little difficult to get installed. Fords and Chevys are plumb easy.
Had Reese, the flat plate type, and the fold over type and not a fan.
On a B&W, just make sure you remove the ball a few times a year as things can/do rust in. I have heard of people stealing the ball so when I go to a more urban environment, I remove the ball.
Good luck! |

Location: North Dakota | We have the B&W ,while it is nice- I HATE making sure I have a rag to flip the ball over as there is grease, so I looked into the flip over like you mentioned above and my one main concern is with our sloppy/freezing winters that it might not be possible for me to get that ball flipped up all the time, with the B & W you can just pull it out. Not sure if this really happens with the reese, but it was a concern of mine. I still hate the grease on my B & W but it is, what it is... |

| After you choose your hitch ... take a look at your old spring loaded handle coupler on your trailer ...
This is a great changeover ... when the short flip handle is pointed up wards
the coupler is open to let down or lift up off of the ball in your truck ...
When the short flip handle is lying parallel with the bed of the truck it is closed
and ready to travel ..
The coupler has holes cast in it which you can put a standard lock to prevent theft
and grease zerks in the head and at the swivel point to grease with a grease gun ... no nasty hands etc ..
You can work this coupler with a stick from the side of your truck ...
Poor guy doing video has never used one so he is not a good demo host ... the coupler is convex which allows ball to mate with coupler even if you are an inch off .. it will slide onto the ball .. or vice versa
