Who all has had a scope done on their knee?  Why did you have yours and how long where you down?

I had mine done one week ago today.  2 months ago I had a dog or 2 that were playing and they ran up and hit me from behind.  I knew before I even hit the ground something was wrong.  Thank goodness I had my phone on me and my SO was only about 15-20 minutes away as I could not get up off the ground.

About a week after the accident I was able to get my MRI.  MRI showed a piece of cartilage was lodge so I couldn't unbend my knee all the way. Knew I was going to need some kind of surgery/scope so signed up for Obama Care so I had insurance as I had just received a new job and wasn't eligible for 60 days.

To make a long story short after getting all the referrals from my Primary DR I finally had the scope done about 1 1/2 months after the incident.

Once he got in there he saw it was worse than the MRI had shown.  Broken kneecap, had to "make" a new pocket for the kneecap and also had a bunch of torn cartilage from the kneecap going out and coming back in.

Haven't started PT yet as they have to get some kind of authorization from my primary dr but I am feeling pretty good.  It is still swollen and I have to wear a brace when I am about and doing stuff.  Surgeon said I could bend it as much as I am comfortable with but I so afraid to bend it at all.  Is this normal or am I just being a wuss?  I want to start PT as soon as I can so I get over this fear.

I had a lateral release done on my right knee when I was 16. I walked that same day. But, a car accident and a broken femur 3 years later put my knee back to where it was before the release. I've dealt with the pain for years. I'm not able to ride english anymore because shorter stirrups hurt like hell.

cracked knee cap and cartilage damage from my horse running into an arena when we had to enter through the roping box - narrow entrance way. Perhaps would have been a different story if I would have been wearing shin guards ... My horse decided to come running from the back 40 that day. Hit the post and hit the first. I was out about 2 months partially because I got sick from the anesthesia and couldn't do the PT. About 7 years later had to have a lateral release. That one was much easier ... 6 weeks.

Thank you!  I have been out for almost 2 months already and I know my PT will be pretty tough as I have already lost about 20% of my quad muscle in that leg before the surgery.

One of the DR's said I couldn't get back on a horse until I could show him I could do a full squat from my toes....  I have a long ways to go.

First of all let me say that I ride with the very best, qualified nurses anywhere. Whenever I have to have anything done, I check with them first. One recommended a particular clinic. Turns out the doctor developed the SYNVISC injections and perfected the artificial knee. Long story short, I had surgery on Monday and was out and about without crutches on Thursday. Never had PT. I have never had any problems since.
