Watery eyes

I have a 3yo whose eyes water all the time! It is a little windy and dusty where we live and I find that putting a fly mask on her does help
(even though she takes it off every chance she gets
). I feel like the fly mask is just a band aid though. She is in perfect health and has bright eyes. The tears blister her face a little. Does anyone else have a horse like this? What can I use to soothe her little face that the dirt won't stick to?

Just curious, Have you checked to see if her tear ducks are clogged up. Sometimes we have to have the vet come out and "clean" one of our mares tear ducks. Its a simple procedure. There is a tiny hole inside the horses nostril. If there is nothing running out of them they may be clogged. Try to wipe them clean may help too.

I really had not thought of that since the only horses I have ever seen with a blocked tear duct it wasn't bilateral but I guess I could try that route!

RE: Watery eyes
Ask your vet for a tube or 2 of antibiotic grease for the eyes ...
Use a 12cc syringe filled with the grease above and insert the nipple into the tiny hole
in the horses nostril... it fits perfectly .... and keep pressure while you inject the grease
up the tear duct into the corner of the horses eyes ... do both sides ...
It does two things ... opens the tear ducts and doctors any on going bacteria which
is responsible for blistering below the eye ...
Using this syringe tear duct technique is also great to doctor a horse that has a really
bad eye problem ... it keeps them from getting head shy and fighting you to doctor
their eye ...
GOOD LUCK ..
