I have used the acytle-D glucosamine shot before for my older gelding, who is now retired. Once I retired him I guess it just slipped my mind that I could do that with my other horses as well (crazy I know) I knew the glucosmaine and adequan are similar, but what are your Pinons? I gave the glucosamine shots weekly and know about how much 100 mL bottle runs however I haven't looked that in deafly at the attic whe that in deafly at the adequane. I have an array of horses from 27-year-old Mare still running to a six-year-old to a 13-year-old with arthritis and a 15-year-old so whatever it is needs to be efficient

I use adequan with my 27 year old, 11 year old, and 8 year old. I love it. They each get a shot once a month in the muscle, and it runs about $50 per horse per month. I notice a huge difference in my oldest one because he does have arthritis (I mean who wouldn't at 27, he ran barrels with me from age 8-22). The other 2 it is more subtle, but I do use it for preventative care because they are working hard.

I sold my old barrel horse and my new one is more of a cowhorse, but I use Adequan on her with great results. I went through a long period of time where I thought there was no way she'd be sound (she has arthritis in her hocks) and that I'd have to sell her as a broodmare, but she made a huge turnaround after her initial loading month of Adequan and hasn't taken a lame step since.

But glucosamine is also a huge part of her diet- every day she gets Smartpak's SmartFlex III pellets, which do wonders.
