How many holes/places would you think is fair to be paid at a 4D race, 1/2, 1/2, whole splits with 500 entries? Thank you!

Equal or porgessive payout?

IMO the last hole in the 4D should make all fees back plus 10%.

So 6-8 holes depending on added money.

I had never thought of it this way. I like this idea.

Out here at $50 entry fee with $5000 added I wouldn't be surprised if it paid 15 holes/D.  If fees are $75 it would be normal to pay 20 holes/D where the last hole would pay $125 for 20th in 4D.

Here is an awesome link I tell people to use to help them figure different payoff scenarios.

over 500 runs??? 10 places per D seems fair, anything less, why even try? That woud be a payout of only 5% of total runners, if they paid 6.

10 or 12.  The Florida NBHA State show has 700 to 900 every year and they pay 12 in the go rounds and 10 in the finals...or the other way around. Can't remember but seems right.
