Clay Ulcer Treatment

About a month ago my vet told me about a ulcer treatment involving clay, aloe vera juice and I think apple cider. He said there was some lady's that were getting some pretty great results using this mixture. I was wondering if anyone has used anything close to this and if so what mixture and how much do you give a day?

How much Bentonite Clay do you give in a daily serving?

I give 1 tablespoon at each feeding. You will need to.mix it with distilled water and let it set overnight. Do not feed it with any supplements. I gI've it with a handful.of feed about 30 minutes before I feed.

I had a really bad experience with a popular " Clay" type ulcer product about 2 years ago. Had a mild colic about 2 weeks after feeding it at the recommended one scoop each feeding rate. We went ahead and oiled my horse and what came out was clearly clumped clay that had gotten in there and stuck some place. So Thats when I switched to the herbal powder for ulcer prevention . I currently use DePauolo Excel and my horses now show absolutely ZERO ulcer symptoms. ANd yes, I used the Curost stomach for 3 months before that and had a " Good" result but my horses still did not like being palpated in the areas for ulcers. I chalked it up to them just not liking being poked and prodded. lol However, I switched to the Excel for financial reasons and all my horses absolutely do not care when I try and get a reaction out of them. No pining ears when I saddle . Nada.

I use the clay for about 30 days. Then I put them on Vitalize High Perfromance in their feed. It is affordable at 125.00 for 50 lbs. What are you feeding?

unlimited Orchard grass hay and alfalfa 2x daily. Plus Whole oats to mix in supplements. I wont mention the product name but it has been discussed here before. LOL My vet agreed that it is the same ingredients as are in a lot of anti Diahhreal meds for horses and they are only designed to be used 2-3 days max at a time. SHe figures after 2 weeks it was building up.

I use the clay that is from Dynamite Products. I haven't had any issues with it. But I do give aloe Vera with it. And I make sure I give it before the meal and with no other supplements as it will bind together.

Thank you for all the replies I was just kinda curious what peoples results and opinions were. I had never heard of giving horses clay before for ulcers. My ulcer prone guy is doing well on what I have him on now 24/7 pasture 24/7 hay with three even feedings of renew gold, max e glo and alfalfa hay. I also give aloe vera juice and a custom blend of THE muscle mass with ulcer prevent included.
