WAY OT: Transmission replacement question

Way off topic here, but I just picked up my 08 GMC Acadia from the shop. They had to put a new transmission in it. Luckily it was covered under a special warranty because it's a known issue in the Acadia
(and other similar models
). But when I drove it around town it was still acting strange, but got a little better the more it got drove. So I call the shop back and the service guy who answered the phone said it all has to adjust to the new transmission, parts and connections.
Is this true? Is he just blowing smoke up my you know what?!?

I would be interested in hearing the answer, too. We have an 08 Acadia and have not had transmission problems, but it seems like it might just be a matter of time. We have a lot of other issues, though.

is it shifting hard? Did you have the transmission replaced originally?

Ours originally started doing this surging thing
(it has just over 107,000 miles
). It seemed to shift ok, but the surging was becoming an issue. Took it to the GMC dealer and it wasn't throwing any codes. So they sent it home with me. I wasn't even a block away from the shop and it started whining and shifting hard. I seriously thought there was a fire truck behind me with it's siren on. The whine sounded just like it and was just as loud. They looked at it some more and the tech found it had a warranty on it to 120,000 miles for the 3-5-R clutch wave plate if it was broken. Ours luckily was broke and covered under the warranty. The broken wave plate is a known issue in the 07-11 GMC Acadias and several other makes and models. Google it, and you will see a bunch of issues..

Dang! I hate to hear this. I have wanted an Acadia for a long time. What kind of issues and do you think it's only with the 2008 years?
