This is not my horse, but I've watched this teenager for months struggle with her horse, she goes out n, turns each barrel great, but coming out of each barrel the mare just sorta hangs loosing a lot of time. Knowledgeable people have tri d helping her, changing bits, but nothing seems to help. She's been vet tested, chiro checked, all seems fine....any ideas I can pass onto her?? Thanks

rollback horses sometimes do that also, if pocket is too big ot too small, will put horse out of place. trot around barrels, round and round in proper position. in my younger days i fixed many problems by this.

Needs to learn to use her feet more. When you pull a horse through a turn rather than push them through. And hands get to high which raise horse up and stop forward movment. Take her stirrups up a little. That brings you down to your horse. You become more stable. Push down hard on the stirrup Center body over the horses withers When stirrups to long.you tend to reach for them with your feet. That makes you lean back some. Head goes back shoulders open up feet go forward. You get on your rear flat. Then get behind your horse. Which causes you to pull more. That stops the horses foward movement and they hang. Stop trying to help so much. If is an older solid horse. Get out of the way and let them work.Shes behind her horse using to much hand ,moving to much. Because shes trying to catch up to her horse.Try that.I give lessons. Do have a few clinics

^^^^ I agree with this. I've noticed a trend with younger girls - I call it the "high school rodeo" turn. They rock back and lean their shoulders out and back, while leaning their hips in towards the barrel. This looks neat going into the turn and may make for a nice picture, but almost all of them have a hesitation leaving the barrel. Maybe this isn't her issue, but I see it a lot with girls that age.

Taking lessons from someone that knows how to help her, maybe a clinic.

Thank you all for very helpful ways, and all seem to be right on top of her problem, I'll pass it onto her ASAP. She competes against my grand daughter and I've seen her struggle for so long, I was hoping y'all would come thru for me, and you all sure did!!!!!
