| Bibliafarm - 2016-04-28 4:33 PM I like compact red mares.. did you think about getting her more experienced in the box.. heeling for a JR or a woman.. I think with time shed be worth more then now..
I am hoping to be able to take her to some barrel jackpots. My husband has offered to rope on her more. I may have to send her to the ropings with him too. |

I'm a huge fan of the old Leo bred horses. If I was wanting to raise babies for myself, I'd buy her and breed her. She's super cute, good luck! Â
Thank you!!! :) |

This is the path that I would take......roping or get someone to haul her to a few sortings and pennings....they like the smaller, "old" lines that will cow..... $3500-$4500 (as she stands) |

I agree .. some of my friends are heelers and have small short cowy horses.. id go that route ..and agree about the price as well.. just get her out there. |

Put feelers out via word of mouth you may find someone who's been looking for a horse just like her. Curious - are small, red, mares lesser valued?  Bigger flashier geldings always sell better. She looks like a nice horse but for selling value she's not as appealing as say a buckskin gelding standing 15.1. Even though she may be a nicer horse than the gelding.
Interesting that geldings are valued higher. I've never heard that before.Â
In my experience, it's not true as much with barrel racers, especially with barrel/running bred horses. But ranchers/ropers the geldings definitely bring more money.
A perfect example is the WYO Quarter Horse Sale every fall and spring. You can look up the results from the past several years and the geldings consistently way outsell the mares.

You can look up the results from the past several years and the geldings consistently way outsell the mares. The same is true at production sales in East Texas that I have attended. Most horses consigned are cutting/reining bred or are for ranch use, roping, team penning, sorting. Cow horses. Geldings just do well. Add color they do even better. Mares bring a good price when they are proven or are great quality breeding stock. HOWEVER from what I have seen in the barrel racing world (especially with futurity folks) mares seem to do just as well if not better than geldings. Obviously because of the potential to breed if the horse is successful. I dont think barrel racers care as much lol. Fast is fast no matter what sex the horse is.

Im afraid I only have a pic of her grazing, and one under saddle. Neither were snapped with maketing in mind. :(  DEF going to have a photoshoot in the coming days.
She sure is cute, I like her, Â
I think she's really cute and looks like a very pretty tail in that first picture |
