| I have a Pozzi saddle that has a gullet that is too wide for my new mare (sits right down on her withers). Right now, I dont have the extra cash to buy a new saddle so in the mean time I am trying to find a pad that can help. My mare is high/narrowed withered with a big shoulder, but needs a wide fit saddle. I used a CSI pad on her this weekend and that made a HUGE difference in her. She wanted to work again!
I have been told to look into a few options before I buy: CSI pad, Best Ever pad, and Saddleright pad. What would you say is the best? |

| My personal favorite for one a bit too wide is a CSI or a 5 star pad with a shim in the gullet if the saddle is only too wide there. You can get a pack of classic equine shims for $20.
I am not a fan of the Best Evers as a wool pad. My fiance has one he won a couple of years ago and it has not held up well at all.
I'm not sure a saddle right is going to pick the saddle up enough if it's too wide, they're pretty thin. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | I've been dealing with a similiar issue except my mare is huge and needs the wide fit. The Right Fit saddle fitting on Facebook has been a huge help! They have the flex plates similiar to CSI but customized to your horses back so the plates aren't too long or short depending on the back. I used a CSI before but it was too thick for my large mare even with the thinnest liner.

I purchased a CSI pad last night.
I have a good friend that is a dealer for CSI pads so while he was here yesterday and he had a few pads with him I picked his brain about the pads, I was telling him about how your horse was builted and with me checking out the pads hands on, I was thinking that would be a good fit for your mare, I even put my 5 Stars out and compared them. I think the CSI is a good fit for your horse. I like the CSI's maybe one day soon I will give one a try,  |

What color did you get and what pad like the round, square, length ? They are a pretty neat pad. And yes there is alot of info on U tube about these pads. Very helpful on the placement of them on your horse. |

Location: Jersey Girl | I was having the same issue. I bought the shims and also borrowed a CSI pad. I did not use the shims with the CSI, I used it with another pad. IMO the CSI worked the best. |

| I actually found a nearly new pad on FB (only used a few times and it was bought new a couple months ago). It's the round cut / navy blue with the 3/4" liner. Blue really isnt the color I was looking for, but as long as my horse feels better I could care less what the pad color is. lol
My mare is pretty solid 1D/2D and the past couple weeks I can barely get her out of the 5D. Only change is the saddle and her back is super sore. Got her into a vet on the 28th and he thought it was her hocks making her sore, so we injected. He wasnt my first choice to go to, but had a cancellation appt so I was able to get in quick. Now, I have pinpointed to the saddle but damage is done so she is getting some time off to heal. Plus, I have another appt with a really good soundness vet next week just to make sure there are not any other underlying issues. |
