If you're gonna buy a used set, what are some things you need to ask or look for? I've never used them before.

Size, what inserts are in the boots and how worn are they. I'm new to them too, just ordered my first pair, got wrong size sending them back for the right size. I'm getting them new.

I traced each hoof on a brown paper bag and measured so I think I'm ok on the sizing part. When you say how worn, do you mean the inserts or the actual outside of the boot?

Inserts, I was told that they can get worn down if used alot. And there is a few different types of inserts to choose from, pretty cool I think.

You know the more I think about it the inserts really dont matter how worn, cause you can order another pair if you need to, I'm just new to getting Soft ride boots too and just over thinking, lol. So dont worry about the inserts.

Make sure to get pictures of the backs of them kind of where the horses heel bulbs would sit, they tend to wear down and have holes back there. I'd actually request photos of everything. And while it's true you can buy new inserts, make sure you're not paying close to new price for super worn inserts. To replace them is still $70.

I own quite a few pairs of soft rides, my smallest is a size 7L with my largest being a size 6L... 7L fits most of my size 0 and 00 and I can also use for rears (rear feet are usually smaller then fronts). My size 6 fits usually my size 1 or even sometimes the 0 too. The most wear and tear is on the back, where the heels are, and that reason is because I think people get the wrong size or they are turned out in them.

I think some horses wear the backs of them more than other horses do. I keep my horses tied up whenever they have their Soft Rides on, and still after a year or two of regular use, the backs get worn. Currently, I've got three pairs at a shoe repair place to get them fixed up. I figure even if it costs me $50 a pair to repair the backs, that's still way cheaper than buying new boots.

Thats a good point too, I wish I could find someone to do a couple repairs on mine too
