Location: Oklahoma | Needing help valuing trailer that is a year old. 2015 Elite with Resistol edition Trail Boss LQ. Is there a certain "percentage" to depreciate? Still in new condition, pulled maybe 10 times, 140 hours on generator. Not wanting to get a low ball offer from a dealership because the trailer is not for sale. Just need to get equity out of it.
There are no comps on horse trailer world, and I'm having trouble getting the LQ specs to work out on the horse trailer blue book. It's giving me MSRPs that are well over what was paid for the trailer.
Any insight is appreciated!! |

Location: North Texas | In the motor vehicle world, thirty (30) % depreciation is normal the first year. Even titling a vehicle will depreciate it approximately twenty (20)%. A similar appraisal technique would be applicable, I believe, for towed vehicles. |

| If you did not PAY 50% DOWN when you bought the trailer and only owned it one year making payments ...
There is no equity to be had ...
Most of these big LQ trailers that are for sale were financed for 10-20 years ... and the owners are just trying to get out from under the payments by selling the trailer.... |

No one is trying to get out from under the payments. Payments will still be made by my husband. I am wanting a fair value for the portion of downpayment that I contributed when the trailer was bought because he does not want to sell trailer. |

Location: south central usa | Price it at a price that you would be comfortable paying --- keeping in mind that although it is a year old, a typical buyer will have to finance and financing options for used trailers can vary greatly from those for a new trailer. IMO the trailers that are 6-8yrs old are the ones that seem to hold their value well as that seems to be when they hit a price floor. You will have to price it a point where it would be make a new buyer want to buy yoursβ¦a used buyer will probably be looking for one that is several (or more) years old. Good luck |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | When I bought a new trailer with LQ's and a few months later I decided I wanted something different and I would have lost 20% on it and I checked and had more then one trailer dealer look at it and they all came up with the same amount.

Location: Florida | That trailer is worth almost as much as you paid for it. Trailers do not depreciate like cars. I sold a Sooner that was 15 years old and had alot of miles on it and got 50% of what I paid for it. Don't low ball it, ask what you paid for it, trailers have gone up in value. |

Boy, wish I could agree. I paid almost $70K for my 2012 Platinum and I can't get $50K for it now. It's been for sale almost 2 years. |

Location: Never in one place long | I bought an Exiss trailer about 10 years ago... used it for 8 yrs and sold it for very close to the amount we bought it for 8 years ago!! We did finish the front with insulation, drywall and cabinets and had about $2,500 in that but I think it was pretty good. |
