If you ride in a back cinch, how tight do you ride in yours? I like to have mine snug and preferably not to have a lot of space between the cinch and belly but I don't tighten it down like a roper.

I am like you, I will tighten it till it is snug. And even then there is daylight between it and the belly when we run.

Snug to to tight but not as tight as when I rope. Dangly back cinches are a pet peeve - snug it up or take it off, I feel like it would've mighty annoying flopping around and I hate seeing them so loose a foot could get caught in the event of a fall

Snug as a bug in a rug. It irks me when people don't ride with one

I agree with snug or what's the point. However apparently pozzi pro saddles do not have back cinches made for giant horses so now we are actually tight. Haha. I like it that way but hoping my horse doesn't decide it feels like a bucking strap.

that's no lie! I swear the back cinch that comes on the JJ's are made for a shetland pony. I had to swap it out with my Crown because I couldn't even get it to the first notch and my horse is in shape.

To answer the OP I make it snug when I run, but will leave it somewhat loose if Im just out riding.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I can put it on thr 2nd holes and it's fine but then the leathers won't stay in the keepers. So I crank it onto hole 3 so they do. My horse is not small but I was kinda wondering what was up. Haha

Snug enough I should remain on the right side of my horse should my front cinch fail me.
When exercising both are just snug, I'm not doing any hard turns or anything. When I run, both are tight.

Back cinches should always be snug no matter what your doing unless your making a run or roping then tighter. I hate seeing one that hanging down 2 inches off the belly, see this all the time.

My new Caldwell saddle back cinch is made for CLYDESDALES lol There is so much Billet room that even my chunky horse has his only down to 2nd or 3rd hole from the top. It was LAST HOLE on my Corriente saddles. lol I always use a WIDE back cinch. Not quite roper style but wider than what comes with standard saddle.

Agreed, I love the wider cinches. The 3-4 inch cinches just make me think of it being uncomfortable for the horses belly.

Roper tight all the time. I use wide roper style back cinches on everything.
