I have a mare that is at the vet right now and I pick her up today from faving 1/3 of her hoof resected from white line disease. I was wondering if there was anything I could feed her or put on the foot to promote a faster hoof growth. She'll be laid up for a couple weeks per vet, but I was just curious if there is anything I could do as after care while I'm trying to grow the foot out. Thanks

Get a supplement thats got 50 mg of biotin per serving in it, I have one of my geldings on Hoof Renu just started him a few weeks ago. And heres another supplement I found its got 100mg of biotin per serving, its called Nanric.
I have my 2 other geldings on Biotin 800 now and its got 50 mg d-biotin and 500 mg yucca per ounce. And theres Command Biotin 50. Just use Google and you will find them.

You will get a million different suggestions from people for hoof supplements, lol. My favorite are the Horse Tech brands. They have several to choose from, the one I have experience with is ReitSport HA-100 which is their hoof/haircoat supplement (Glanzen) combined with a joint supplement. I'd definitely give Glanzen a look for promoting hoof growth.Β Horse Tech also has free shipping, which I have always found a bonus. Focus HF is another great supplement (made by Source). It really outperforms its price tag, and is usually readily found in most feed stores.

If you want an inexpensive option that works absolutely amazing, put UNsalted butter on the coronet band 2x daily and rub it into the hair line. Its crazy good!

And another inexpensive option is Gelatine, my race horse friends use this.

I used Cox Lab's Hoof Secret for same problem and the farrier seemed impressed with how fast her hoof grew back.

Added Biotin MAY help hoof growth if the horse is on a high grain disrupted diet. Cornell did a two year study a number of years ago that showed no change in growth rate in a properly balanced diet with a fully functioning hind gut, since a horse can make all that they can use themselves if the hind gut is working properly. In that case, you get hoof growth, at the horses potential to do so, without adding any biotin. More important is Lysine and Methionine. Look for hoof supplements that provide that over biotin. Fix your feeding program. Take out, or greatly limit the grain based concentrates. Feed the best hay that you can, and a digestible fat source and look for quality protein in any hoof supplement you use. Growing feet is a long term project. The biotin con has been going on for years. Many hoof supplements do not accurately list what form of biotin they add, and it is very hard to test for so they get away with it.

I feed my mare "Glanzen 3" for her hooves and my farrier noticed a huge improvement. Her hooves were not the worst ever, but they were definitely not healthy. I know there's no cure-all for everyone, but I have had terrific luck with it. It's also reasonably priced compared to some of the other supplements out there that run $3-4 per day.

On the label is says for "hooves, coat, and attitude".... if only they made it for humans I'd be all set!

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do and how it works out!!

I was tolded at least a pack a day, if I were feeding it I would do half a packet in the morning and the other half in the evening feeding.

I have had wonderful success with OE Nutraceuticals Hoof Evolution. My gelding had less than 1/3 of minimum sole depth needed after a bad shoeing incident. After shoeing with pads and other supplements I tried the "Terlip hoof care" which is what it was first called and his feet made a complete turn around. In about a month and 1/2 his feet were almost at minimum depth. Now his feet are better than they have ever looked. No more bruising or tender feet. Kylar Terlip might see this and be able to tell you more. Its a great product.

Totally agree with Winwillows. Talked with him at a race a year or so ago and revamped/simplified our feeding program. Not only has my mares feet gotten better, but the sarcoid on her neck is almost non- existent

I would use Master Hoof Blend.  I used it with Perfect Horse and got good healthy growth and now just Perfect Horse.  The best supplement 97 per cent digestible.
