It seems my two horses couldn't be any more different if they tried! My mare is built like a mack truck, and she goes great in a treeless Jackie Jatzlau, it fits her like a glove and works with her body style...

Now on the other hand my other horse is a twig,he may weigh 800 lbs and is only 14hh. Sitting on him and looking down compared to her is like looking at a 2x4. I'm over exaggerating but he is much much more narrow than Kitty. He has nice withers, not too tall, not mutton, and a nice laid back shoulder and his back is a little long.

What would fit him do y'all think? I've tried the treeless and it just was wrong, tried a fqhb old style courts and I didn't feel it fit that great but not "terrible", tried an old crates mike beers rope saddle, and tonight tried a pro rider. He had the best sweat pattern with the pro rider but it looked like it sat down hill on him and sat fairly close to his withers.

Keep in mind we are on a budget

I use my Pozzi with a half in five star. Wasn't cheap, but I had to take the plunge because I couldn't find anything else that fit even remotely close, and when a saddle doesn't fit, we've taken to rearing at the second barrel. I managed to find mine used though, so it wasn't too bad.

You'll probably want to try a pro rider standard 6.5 tree (pad it up if it's a little wide) or use shims, that's what I did. Or try a corriente, those for my more narrow high withered horses well, and they're both comfy. The pro riders prices have gone up but you can get a new corriente for $850

I bought my Corriente for my narrow horse and it fit her perfectly. Price is good on them too especially for the quality.

I have a 16.1H  higher withered horse. none of the Pozzi's fit him. the saddle that fit him the best was a Martin FX3 7" gullet. I have to use a shim D/T his back is atrophied a little from people using ill fitted saddles for so many years. The shim makes him more free in that area and allows that area to flex more to rebuild the muscle.

I love how the older Martha Joseys fit a narrower horse, I regret selling my Joseys, been watching the ads and hoping one day I will find them up for sale

I (obviously) haven't set every single Pozzi tree on my horses, but I have a couple different Pozzi's with different trees, and they seem to fit my WIDE backed horses the best, so not sure that will 100% work for you. I will say though, that Phillip with Double J is INSANELY helpful when it comes to saddle fit. Whether you're in the same place he is so you can try different trees on, or sending emails with pictures and discussing your horses body type (that's what I did with my first) he knows his stuff and seems to get it right dang near every time.
