Location: NeverLand | My husband and I will most likely be moving around the Gravette, Arkansas area. Are there horse people out there? and how is the barrel racing world over that way. Any information would be greatly appreciated! |

| I am a Texas girl but I do know that you cannot enter an event in AR without your coggins in hand. They will not let you in. There are frequent barrel races in Texarkana AR (Texarkana sits on the state line of TX and AR) at the Four States Fairgrounds. A lot of AR people come to Marshall TX to the barrel races there. Come prepared to compete because the 5D often takes a mid 16 to place. The arena is not small. It would be worth your time to come to a Josey Clinic to be eligible to compete in their REUNION, tons of fun. I think there are some small barrel races in
Southern AR. There are some pretty big barrel races in Bastrop LA which is in NE LA. I go to Texarkana but not the other barrel races in AR. Small TX barrel races are better and we have one around here every weekend.
I googled Gravette. I don't think you will be heading to Marshall, way too far. I have no idea about Missouri but we get some Missouri folks in Marshall at our big barrel races because they say there is nothing happening in Missouri. I think your best bet is Oklahoma. I think Gravette is near BFE.

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | NWA is like a different country from the rest of AR. It's a nice place to live, and I know a lot of people from up there, but in general they stay in their mountains and we stay out. LOL |

| There are barrel races up there but they are spread out. The good news is your close to other states that have a lot to offer as well. You just need someone close to give you all the inside scoop. But it is beautiful up there. |

| NWA is great. around Rogers/Silom springs etc is nice. I live in MO but frequently go to silom springs to marchant hills arena/ the outdoor at silom/ there is an indoor that has jackpots in fayetville also. southwest city had a 8 week series last fall also. Arkansas NBHA has quite a few jackpots in the NWA area |

Missouri really doesn't have HUGE jackpots. biggest ones up here have about 200 entries- 250 max. Oklahoma has tons of places to go for sure |

Location: Missouri | I was waiting to respond bc I don't live in AR anymore. But since you haven't got many local responses, I thought I'd tell you the little that I do know.
I'm surprised someone said its in the middle of nowhere? It's way too close to NWA for me! Lol! Fayetteville/Springdale/Rogers/Bentonville all run together and make a big metropolis. You will likely frequent there for shopping, doctors, etc.
I'm not sure what barrel races are down there (I try not to drive that direction unless I have to...) but you will be close enough to haul to bigger races in Ft. Smith, Carthage (Barrel Bashes and money added winter series, etc), and lots in Oklahoma (check out the Flying Cow in Afton). Seems like Springdale, AR had a big money added race this year too. Also, there was a big indoor arena in Siloam Springs that was hosting a few races.
It is a beautiful area. I don't understand the mountains comment. Gravett isn't in the mountains? especially compared to Utah... Lol (or Montana, where I moved from) Guess it's all a matter of perspective :)

You have to drive across the big mountains to get there. Which is scary as #%!& to this flatlander from the Delta of southeast Arkansas.
We actually own land in West Fork, and my hubby will inherit land in Greenland, I'm glad so many people want to live there. LOL |

Lol! I guess there is change in elevation for you! But I think there would be any way you went, except maybe to the ocean! Haha! It's pretty flat down there! :) It's actually closer for me to drive to NWA to shop, but I can't handle all the people and traffic. I usually go to Springfield instead. |
