So I came from my general family doctor this morning after not being able to take my shoulder pain anymore. I am going to see Ortho on Tuesday as he thinks that I have either torn my rotator cuff or suffer from shoulder impingement. Anybody have any experience with this? I haven't been able to rope all summer but up until last weekend I could ride just fine. But last weekend I couldn't lift my saddle onto my mountain of a horse without shooting pain in my arm.
Anyone know the recovery time of this either?

My brother had his rotator cuff repaired several years ago and he is still doing great. It seems to me he had to have it stabelized for a while and then it was I think 6 weeks before he could lift anything more than 5 lbs. However, the second part he didn't do so well at. We had a cow go down and he had to help get her up several times in a week, but like I said he has little to no problem with it anymore.

I had shoulder surgery. No tear and no impingement. Just needed to have a "clean out". Surgery in 2008 and am doing great now. Opted for surgery because injections only provided temporary relief.

My left shoulder has been bothering me especially when I sleep on it. Last Monday morning I had trouble lifting my arm up to my face. It got better after a few days, but still has minor pain. I have trouble doing things like picking up my yeti and doing my hair etc. It's just not bad enough to go to the doc.

Anyone start out with similar issues?

I had adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). I couldn't raise my arm high enough to even put deoderant on and there was no way I could get my bra fastened/unfastened (in the back). After physical therapy and surgical manipulation I have 95% movement. It started with an insignificant injury and then snow balled.

I also had a frozen shoulder and it was miserable. I went to an Ortho and they injected it and that took the pain away but I still couldn't fully use it. The Ortho wanted to put me in the hospital and un-freeze it and I said no way. My horse chiro worked on me and broke the adhesions lose it was great after that. Then I had a horse jerk my arm and it's just continued to get worse and I'm now going to a MFR therapist and she has helped me immensely. There are so many things I have had problem doing without getting a sharp pain down my arm and now most of that is gone but I still have treatments left.

I've had bad shoulder pain for years. After MRI it showed a tear. Of course they tried to talk me into surgery but no way could I be committed to that and recovery time. I had injections twice at 6 month intervals. Then my 3rd injection has lasted over a year! I have a good ortho guy who does an ultrasound the same time as he injects so he gets just the right spot. I would suggest that route if you have a good ortho doc.
