I am not savvy about bloodlines. My mare's great grandsire on the sire's side is First Down Dash and on the dam's side Beduino. I know Beduino was a successful TB racehorse but that's about all I know about him. What can you tell me? I want to learn. Her registered name is Stepdownnextcase, a 2006 Paint, in case you want to look her up. Thanks!

You have a full blood quarter horse with no legitimate paint blood in her pedigree.

ROYAL QUICK FLASH APHA is also SF ROYAL QUICK FLASH AQHA .. he is double registered in both associations .. he is a crop out quarter horse which may have a white spot on his belly that qualified him to be registered with APHA .. even when bred to colored paints he would dominate and have a breeding stock baby ...

The reason for the 2 names is AQHA did not want to be involved with a "paint" stallion and APHA wanted the money for registrations ... lol .... equabase the keeper of race data told them to stop being stupid and have the same name but different registration numbers so their computer could keep up with the get of the stallion or other double registered's ...

Very few sires have enough gene power to over come the Indian pony genes in your paints and RQF APHA is one of the rare ones that does ... he has been #1 paint racing sire many times ..

bottom side is also pure quarter horses ...

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/stepdownnextcase

Check to see if your mare is a registered qh with the name she has now ... if not ... tell them her dams name and the year your mare was born and see if she got registered into AQHA... breeding year would be 2005 ... MOST people double register ...

Your mare is line bred Beduino which is a good thing ... They scare the daylights out of most barrel racers. They are fast, hard turners, quick to learn and very quick to gather ... so you better know how to ride to stay on one!! Beduino will give a baby heavy muscles, good bone and a super barrel horse conformation!!

Once a Beduino horse (also Chicks Beduino, Dashing Cleat and This Snow Is Royal) learn the pattern .... stop practicing and let them run with very little nagging from the rider!! ... the money is at the event and not in the practice pen at home ... so no pestering!! ... lol These horses are as gentle as can be and stay sound for years!!

Do whatever is necessary to get her qh papers ... if you do she just doubled in price .... and her babies tripled in value ...

My 3rd eye sez a good outcross to FRENCHMANS GUY blood will get you a runnin and turnin fool .. lol .... French Too Fame and Streaking Pac Bar have the genes to do it .. according to Eye Told Ya ... lol
FG will give a more compact body and a lot of natural agility and will improve on any bloodline you have.

All you need to know about FDD is the closer he is to a mare the better ... he is the greatest sire of qh racing with 80M earnings and DTF is the highest earning barrel sire with ~16M ... ....

Git it on ta gittin yore QH papers rat now ... OK??
Don't wait till breeding time ..

I agree with this about the Beduino. I have a double bred Beduino gelding we use for barrels, SMART, SMART, SMART but is a rascal. Not hot but like a 5 yr old kindergartener with adhd. ALWAYS into something. We were warned about his bloodlines by a few barrel racers but he's been fun. I bought his 3/4 brother and even better!
I have 2 FDD grandsons. Their sire is by FDD out of daughter of Runaway Winner. You train them and leave them alone. Repetition training is not your friend. They are heavy boned and massive muscles.
Don't be afraid of a Beduino :)

I have a mare who is a grand daughter of FDD. Her sire was Sour Mash Dash (FDD x Chickarun), she's a great horse, not a single issue ever. Easy Custus (Easy Jet x Custus Liz) on the bottom. She's great-minded, athletic and always has been a pleasure to ride and sincerely loves being ridden - she's up to go anywhere and do anything. Takes care of any rider.

One of my geldings is  a son of Easy Winning Jet (Beduino grandson by Runaway Winner).  He's 100% TB on the bottom. He's a nice horse too.  Great work ethic, he hated being on the track but as a regular riding/using horse he's great.  Gets a lot of compliments from the cowboys out here who like a big pretty horse who can work all day.

I have said since having them I wish I could combine the two.  Both are the same nice horse everyday - love their dispositions.

Best Gelding I ever owned was  Beduino Grandson.
He was so smart, had a kind eye, was a great looker, and always had tricks up his sleeve.  He was a 16 hand dark bay with stripes on the back of his legs, dapples on his back, 4 white socks and a big blaze down his face.

He always took care of me. He had heart like I've never seen in a horse before. He'd run his heart out every time. Ears pinned and get down low.

I could throw a child on him right after a run and he would drop his head, lick his lips and pony them around or back to the trailer. All my friends children loved him. Sure wish I had another one like him. Those are the kind that are irreplaceable.  I almost bought his full sister back then and sure wish I would have.

I had a mare that was double breed FDD (G daughter and GG daughter) as well as Beduino top and bottom too. No direct get but she was really nice.

I have never had the pleasure of being around a nicer horse than her. She was just very kind, smart and just a geuine kind old sole. We should have went places.

I have noticed quite a few people are really turned off by Beduino they say they are hot and more difficult. I find more say that with chicks beduino than just beduino, but I find its a love em or hate em bloodline from what others say and post.

My favorite cross. I've had a lot of them. My stud was by Burrs First Down (FDD x Beduino daughter). Loved him and his babies. Beduino is one of the greatest broodmare sires to ever exist. Some hate them and that is fine. But I have not owned one that went to Beduino that was any kind of bronc, mean, hot etc. All my mares have Beduino.

I have this mare and love her. She is a true beauty. Very sweet but does have a royal attitude about her. She thinks she is perfect. She ran in APHA races and AQHA races and ran AAA in both, winning in both.  http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/mt+shez+younique

This is my mare:   http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/noels+flying+lady

She is a super nice horse that could be so much better with a better rider.  She can be a little impatient in the alley, but rarely hits a barrel.  She waits on me when I don't quite stay with her, costing us time but saving my behind!  I am lucky to have her.

I bought a mare from BHUSA that is a daughter of THIS SNOW IS ROYAL. She is the sweetest thing. Nothing rattles her. She is bred to GUYS EASY JET for a running turning fool. Hope she passes on her disposition to her babies

Sorry I haven't been able to come back in a while.

BARRELHORSEUSA, thanks for explaining all that! And everyone else! Omg, I had a feeling she was good, but like I said, I'm not very savvy about the bloodlines; I've never owned anything with your "classic barrel horse bloodlines." She is everything you guys described! You were describing her to a T! I am so excited! We are going to do our best to do everything right! I will find out if she's double registered BARRELHORSEUSA.

I LOVE Beduino horses. I have had two and they were smart, catty and quick as can be. They, like other's said, were rascals. My boy Snicker's was quite the trickster, he knew how to open every gate in my backyard and I recall one time we had left the main gate open.. well my neighbor woke me up from a nap with a knock on our front door, asking if those were our horses wandering around across the street! He had let himself, all of our horses out, opened one of the gates to the arena and then walked out the front gate leading our others horses for a rendezvous around the neighborhood! I almost DIED. On the other note, he was an amazing barrel and pole horse. I hardly ever drilled him, he knew his job and the rest of the time I enjoyed him. I sold him in 2006 and he is now a trail and barrel horse, been with that owner for a good 10 1/2 years and she loves him to death!

Beduino's are also late bloomers. They usually don't mentally mature and calm down till their about the age of 7-8, but once they reach that point they are golden.

Thanks Dash. She is VERY smart. Doesn't miss a trick. And I would also say she's fairly immature. She's 9 or 10 and she's kind of colt-like. It's so funny how they are all different. The one I ride has always been very mature. We always say he was born old. It's nice to learn about how the bloodlines affect this.

I know this is an older post but just came across it.  Have any of you had any Beduinos cross well with a cutting/cow type other half?  I have little experience with Beduinos other than one colt I had by a This Snow Is Royal son who was quite the opposite of what people say about Beduinos in general.
