We are fixing to build a house...

How long can a brother and sister share a room?  Like to what age?  Our oldest boys just turned 12 and our youngest 2 are 1 (boy) and 3(girl).  How long can the younger 2 share a room?

Opinions appreciated.

My brother and I shared a room until I was about 10.

My youngest rbother and sister shared a room until my little sister was 11 or 12 and she finally wasn't scared to sleep alone.

We each had bunk beds so we never slept in the same bed. My mom had a divider set up in the room for me to change behind for a little bit of privacy. She did the same for my little sister.

I would say if both boys, for as long as they lived with you and daddy, but since boy and girl I would say till at least 10 maybe, I would think they would want to start having their own rooms by this age.

My brother and I shared a room up until I graduated 8th grade, so I was 14 and he was 8. The house was a 3 bedroom, mom and dad's room, my sister who was 4 years older but I did not want to share a room with her, LOL!!! So I shared with my brother, moved into the other room when my sister moved out.

They can share until they start thinking about killing each other .. lol

If you are building a house think of having a JACK AND JILL bathroom between two bedrooms. As a RE Broker I have sold a ton of these to people and I tried to find a simple picture to no avail .. maybe these two will help you get the idea.

Most are in 2 story homes per the one picture ... but for some reason the designer left out a commode with the sink/counter on one end ... grrr

Draw 3 boxes .... put a commode and small sink/counter on each end .... center area is a tub/shower with sink/counter with locking doors to isolate it from each commode/sink area ... yes .. you can walk thru the bath from one bedroom to the other ..

On one of the pictures just add another commode and sink/counter ... like
the other photo .. add a sink/counter to make it identical with the other one ..

This Jack n Jill setup makes it convenient for everyone ...

If I was building a house I'd want a room for each child if possible. If not usually around 10.

If the older 2 move out at 18, I think it would work out just right for the younger 2 to share until then. My niece and nephew shared until a month ago--he's 9 and she's 7.   They could have made it work a little longer if they had needed to.

Exempt if they go to college and they come back on weekends, summers and holidays.
