I've already seen a ton of random misinformation floating around...so here's some random correct information!

No, Tuf Cooper & Trevor Brazile are not competing at the NFR. They're not there because they were founding shareholders of the ERA, and the PRCA put a rule in place preventing anyone holding shares in a competing association from also holding a PRCA card. There are some cowboys who only competed in the ERA and were not shareholders who also competed in PRCA rodeos. Competing in the ERA is not what eliminates you from competing in the PRCA, holding shares in the ERA is what disqualifies them from competing in the PRCA.

No, Fallon Taylor is not competing at the NFR. No, it's not because she's protesting the ground. No, it's not because she wasn't allowed to due to competing in the ERA. She did enter WPRA some, but didn't go enough/win enough $$ to qualify for the NFR. ETA: In 2016 the WPRA didn't have a rule disqualifying shareholders in competing organizations from holding a card as the PRCA did. This has changed for 2017, so if Fallon or any other shareholders want to compete in pro rodeos at all, they will have to sell their ERA shares. They can still hold an ERA card, just cannot own actual shares of the organization.

Also...the only actual live stream is only available outside the US. All the websites and crap getting shared on Facebook...great way to lose $20 and get your credit card info stolen. You can try searching for someone who's there doing a Facebook Live video or listen at prorodeolive.com if you don't have the channel. I think I'll go to the bar tonight

According to a prca judge, the ERA is dead. PBR bought the franchise but aren't going to have any rodeos.

My question about ERA is this, my impression was that they created this association so that they could go to fewer rodeos and make more money, however, nowhere on their website is it ever mentioned how much money any of the competitors made at the rodeos or at their finals, so am I missing something?

Their big pay off didn't happen.
I'm pretty sure that the barrel racing rounds at their finals paid less then $5,000.00 to win it.

That's kind of what I figured. At least the people doing it aren't making money off it though, unlike the sketchy website streams.

Is the PRCA holding earnings back or are they not placing? Their names are nowhere to be found in any event for the 2017 season.

They still all got to play in Vegas. They got invited to the Boyd Gaming Shootout that's happening. They are all over the place signing autographs, etc.

Just got back from Vegas last night. Went to the Thursday night performance, you'll never believe it but there were low 7's in the roping. Some good low times in team roping, and some dang good rough stock rides. The stands were full, and not once did I think, boy it's a shame that the 'elite contestants aren't here', nor did anyone else.

The folks that started the ERA thought they were just a wee teeny bit more important than they really are. They are all very talented, and we loved to watch them, but we loved to watch Fred Whitfield too. In fact hubby says without Fred, Cody and Joe it's just not the same.

Personal opinion is that his idea grew from a few 'elite' contestants that really believed that thousands of people, not just rodeo people, would pay to see them. And as we now know, no they won't. We true rodeo fans can't put enought butts in the seats to achieve what the ERA expected. You've got to have folks that don't know Trevor from Jim Bob. They don't know if 7.2 is a good time or not, they just want to watch a rodeo.

We have some up and comers, just like Brazile and Motes were at one time, that now have another year of experience under their belt. I can't wait for WNFR 2017.

I agree. The stands are still full at the rodeo, the trade shows are still elbow to elbow people, there are cowboy hats all over Vegas... It is unfortunate that the "elites" aren't there because they are exciting to watch, but I don't think the calibre of the rodeo is any less without them and the fans are loving the rodeo with or without them. There are still a lot of great rides happening, and having a few less elites has opened up some opportunity for the very talented up and comers to move up the ranks and get experience. The NFR is the NFR and there are a lot of fans who go to Vegas year after year for the whole NFR Experience... I totally understand that the contestants are burnt out and feeling underpaid, I'm not taking sides, but I hope they can come to an understanding that works for everyone again.

I am not anti-ERA. I like the idea they had and I think they had good intentions. They weren't trying to make themselves a higher-power than others, they just were trying to start up a new organization to give the PRCA a run for its money, not replace it, but maybe make them listen to their members a little bit more. They are constantly making rules that hurt the cowboys and they don't have any competition to make them try harder to be better. The goal was to start up this association, use big names to get a fan base, have qualifiers to allow up and coming athletes in as well. And yes, to allow the athletes to compete for good prize money, but not have to be on the road 45 weeks out of the year.

I do like seeing all the new faces at the NFR. I always root for the underdog, so I love that there are a lot of rookies there. I've seen a lot of them compete over the years and I love that their dreams have came true to be able to compete in Vegas.

It will be interesting to see if the ERA guys who have been out of the PRCA for 2016 will be able to make the NFR next year without all the big qualifying winter rodeos.

It is sure nice to see some new faces!! Lots of rookies this year!! So I guess Lisa Lockhart doesn't own shares in the ERA? She competed in both..ERA & PRCA.....

She did at one time, if i remember correctly, but sold her shares when there started to be mention of banning shareholders from the NFR.

It was only for PRCA that you couldn't own shares and compete. That's why a few of the barrel racers ran ERA and still ran in the rodeos and made the NFR. For 2017, it is a rule you can't own shares (WPRA just passed it this year). I don't know if Lisa has shares or not, but for 2016 it wouldn't have mattered for the barrel racers.
