Location: You never know where I will show up...... | lindseylou2290 - 2016-12-15 10:30 AM You are so full of crap. Instant, portable Coggins testing? On what planet did this start? It's actually been around for a very long time. One of my equine vets also used to work a local monthly horse sale and brought his portable lab to the sale where blood could be drawn and coggins run onsite. Only takes a half hour to run one.
He also works some very large breeding farms in the area and takes his lab with him. Just recently there was a local outfit moving 1000+ head of BLM mustangs from one ranch to another, he had to drive up to that ranch and do all the coggins before they could be moved.
So yes, the technology does exist. He only charges $30 for a coggins and $10 for a health certificate regardless of how many horses are written on the health.
When I sell a horse and need a coggins ASAP I haul it to his clinic and he'll run it right there while I wait.

Im In CA and every year I get a coggins and health cert for my horses when I go to AZ. And every year they just wave me through. Never even ask to see my paperwork. Its costs me about 200 total for my horses tests and paperwork. Entry fees are already crazy!!! It USED to be AZ was very strict about paperwork and actually checked horses/papers. When the economy went down they cut that... I wonder if I can get buy not having them this year??
HELLO CALIFORNIA ...
Look around for a small horse sale close to you ... to sell a horse it must
have a coggins and usually there is a mobile vet with portable test
equipment to give you instant coggins results and papers.
I know a couple of Tx vets that do this and charge $35 state amount for
coggins and $25 for shipping/ health papers ...
Find a sale and call them to check it out ..
You are so full of crap.

You must be from Arkansas. They would not take my digital Coggins because they had never seen one before. This is not new. |

Location: Arkansas | We have the quick Coggins in Arkansas and the digital Coggins (if you are talking about the one with pics) is accepted. You just have to have a paper Coggins. No pics on the phone or photocopies are accepted. |

They do it all the time at the horse and cattle auctions in East Texas. $30 (last time I had them do one) and I had it back in an hour. |

Location: Texas | Well it's the law to pull a coggins so, I would never NOT have on on a competition horse who leaves the house. Health certificates, if I'm traveling across state lines I will pull one, especially if the rules state they are checking them. Better safe than sorry. |

Location: So Cal | Yeah California sales do NOT require Coggins. The only time I was ever stopped and they actually LOOKED at my paperwork was when I was hauling a horse back here that I picked up in CO. They had us pull to the side, go in the office thing and they looked it over. If you say they're California horses, they don't usually care to check the paperwork at all. |

Location: California | I have been stopped a few times coming back into California over the years. Usually on I-10. Also if there is some kind of virus going around, like when the vesticular stomitis (sp?) was going around. Granted we have shown them papers that didn't go with the horse, but they still asked for them and wrote down numbers. We've also been pulled off to the side and have to go in the office. Twice they made us drop all the windows to check markings. |

yes, it's for real ! I live in Texas and get mine done at the horse sale. Vet comes to my trailer, pulls the blood and has results in 1 hr. It's the ELISA test, vs the AGID version which takes longer. |

Location: MO | ALWAYS have the coggins, and I USUALLY ALWAYS have a Health Cert, just becasue.
This past summer though, I didn't hvae one for a couple of months. I went to a race in TN and they told everyone they would check and they did.
My MO vet is very strict about the health cert. becasue he has been in meetings and conferences when the state vets all talk about the hows and whys...He turned a ton of horses away from the MO State fair and they were from IL, IA, etc becasue they didn't have health certs. He said they were all over them becasue of rhino outbreaks. |
