mreklaw - 2017-02-09 11:48 AM I have ridden 2,3 &4 year olds with a treeless. The only ones I don't like to ride are the ones that may still want to buck a little. Also, I usually ride with a saddleright pad. It's not real thick but offers a lot of support for their back. If your horse doesn't have much withers then you may have to use a thinner felt pad. I like the Bob Marshall and the Jackie's the best.

Very good to know...this one has a little buck when she's fresh (nothing terrible, just a kick out or two), so it sounds like I may not want to go with a treeless on her yet.

I ride my young one in a treeless and she has less withers than yours.  The trick is the pad, I ride a saddleright pad and it does not move!!!
