Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | My son is now 4 1/2 weeks old. He is formula fed because I am BONE DRY. he went through a small spell of colic at which time to everyone's advice I ordered Dr. Browns bottles. They helped tremendously, he's no longer gassy or colicky! But now after about a week and a half or two weeks on them he is leaking a ton of milk out of the side of his mouth when he feeds?! He was eating every 4 hours before, now he's eating every two.. but I feel like it's because he's wasting half his milk down his chin. I try to slow him down- pull the bottle out- wipe his chin, etc. HELP! I'm in foreign water here!!
ETA I NEED SLEEEP AT THIS POINT! and my mother can't figure this one out because they didn't have fancy schmancy bottles 30 years ago!

Location: North Dakota | look at the nipple or just try a new one-there are different sizes and some of them "flow" while others need to be sucked to open enough. |

| Do you have a lactation department or occupational therapy in your hospital? We had a son with feeding issues and using the lactation and occupational therapy helped us tremendously. We use the Dr Brown bottles and I swear by them! A few thoughts would be the level of the nipple maybe the flow is too fast, we used the preemie level nipple for the longest time our guy was just getting way too flooded with formula. Slowing the flow down helped. Good luck momma I know it can be exhausting! Hang in there. |

Location: Oklahoma | My 4 month old is the same way with spilling. I have her on the smallest nipple and I keep a burp cloth under her chin while she's taking a bottle. |

Location: Texas | My daughter was the same way. It didn't matter what brand of bottle I used or what nipple I was using, it never failed that she would be leaking formula down her chin. I just kept a burp rag under her chin and dealt with it. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Calm down momma! You got this. Baby won't be waking up every two hours forever. Baby also won't be leaking milk forever. Make twice as much formula as baby usually eats and let him spill. Nothing is ever perfect in parenthood lol.
Check your bottle nipple and make sure you have the correct size on the bottle. Feel free to experiment. I used the Dr. Brown's and the Tommee Tipee bottles. Both worked wonders.
Don't overthink. Don't freak out if nothing goes smoothly. Everything will be A-Okay. He will start sleeping through the night soon. For now, get a nap when he is taking a nap and don't worry about housework. Try and make a few small easy meals that you can freeze and warm up when you have a few minutes. It's hard. It's really hard, but you so got this!

| Don't panic! Both my daughters breastfed and would leak milk all over the place as well, it's just something that babies do. Sleep when he sleeps and cut yourself some slack. Motherhood is the absolute hardest job ever however it is also the most rewarding! |

Yep, it's like blood in the water
Chandler had jaundice and colic and projectile vomiting within the first few weeks/months of life. . . Would only sleep during the day, and then just every two hours for an hour. I felt like a zombie (although I was more worried about him when he could puke on the wall while I was holding him on the bed) with no sleep and postpartum depression. So I feel for you, but like everyone said, hardest job (should be a requirement to have a how-to manual) with most rewards you'll ever have. Congratulations on your son and welcome to mommy hood |
