Lets talk about what your favorite horses are that have NO FG, DTF, FDD,ASOF in the first 3 generations.I am liking Mr.Jess Perry, especially Red Storm Cat. I think he is to die for. Idk what his babies are like though.

There has been very few successful Mr. Jess Perry horses in the barrel pen.   I have a Gdtr and I love her...but they just haven't done anything really.

most trainers have labeled them as lazy....I've been on 5 and all of them ran decent on the track but getting them to work a set with speed is not happening. Them being lovable honest decent kids horses....yupp thats happening lol

Have you looked at Bullseye Bullion? Bully Bullion and Shawne Bug, great mare lines but not seen as much in stallions. He is a nice outcross for more of the stallion lines you are listing there.

I also really like the Supreme Champion Fly the Red Eye.

See and I have been around a ton of them and they are really willing horses who want to please. They do get bored and dont want to be drilled to death. Once they have it, move on and make life fun for them. They are easy willing horses and they will try hard for you but doing the same thing over and over again they get bored- can't blame them there, I am the same way. I like easy horses who want to please and have min bullsh$t about them.

Not putting down your stud as I know he's bred that way. The few I've had are great 2/3D horses for their current owners. I do know of one locally that might make a nice futurity horse next year but they have yet to really make a splash.

There are so many factors in a pedigree that singling out Mr Jess Perry as the reason that they are slow is pretty closed minded, as I am sure you probably were not riding own sons or daughters of Mr Jess Perry. So, Mr Jess Perry is actually 1/4 of the pedigree. Our stallion had 6 foals on the ground prior to us buying him, of those all that went to the track were winners, one stakes placed and the only one that went to the arena is a 1D horse and being rodeo seasoned now. There are several out there that are solid 1D horses with Mr Jess Perry in their pedigree.

I'm super curious what people have in their area that may be local studs or not fashionably bred that kick butt...maybe the owners don't have the funds to really promote their program which takes a lot of money.

Neither of mine are super popular bloodlines.  My paint will be just going into his first season so it will be fun to see how he turns out and then I have a yearling that does have some FDD in his pedigree but nothing super up close.  I'm also very excited about him.  I like to root for the underdogs.  Now I don't futurity but hoping they turn out to be tough local horses.

2 own sons :-) ....these were OTT geldings that ran out decently but not superstars

3 Grand get

Not putting anything down. Your boy looks nice and sounds like his babies are doing wonderful! I've personally not had much success with them though. They all finished out sound, sane, and honest horses.

I second you astreakinchic.. I have started an own daughter and 5 grand get over the past two years. All of which, I have previously had successful babies out of the mare by different studs. Havent been over the moon with any of them. All of them ran out decent on the track, and finished sound and sane (besides one lemon head).. just never did anything barrel wise to write home about.

I do have a friend that has a really nice grand get and she adores her. I personally havent seen a ton of them making a splash either.

Sydni Blanchard  has a solid 1d and rodeo winning Jess Lousiana Blue gelding. Tammy Fischer has a solid 1D 5 yr old futurity horse that is by a Mr Jess Perry son she is running this year as well. There are several out there that are 1D competive horses. I keep up with it because we own a son whom I am very fond of as well as his colts. There are several MJP son that are very front end heavy which makes it hard to get one that can get around quicky but there are ones like JLB and ours that are not front end heavy sons and dont produce front end heavy horses.

I also am not saying anything bad about your stud.. or MJP in general. Just in my personal experience, I havent seen anything around my parts that is just blowing the place up. There will always be good and bad with every stud. Im sure there are just as many lemon babies if not more by all the big time studs out there as MJP has right now. I do agree with you about being front end heavy. And like I said, all the MJP horses Ive had personal experience with have turned out very nice! They just arent my first pick. I do hope I continue to be blessed with the chance to ride numerous different bred horses to be able to continue to form my own personal opinions. If you dont mind me asking, who is your stud? I like to keep up with up and comings just as much as the next guy

An oldie but a goodie and the futurity world's best kept secret!

We own one, Niks Show of Roses, she is amazing--gorgeous, built like a truck, lazy, mellow, but point her at a set of cans and she squeals with glee and powers off like a rocket. Love her.
