My barrel horse is push style with BIG drops at the barrels I'm looking for a bit that will help me lift him past it until we need to turn. Either that or some exercises I can do to push him past it more.
Thank you!

While I will always recommend exercises to correct this, I do LOVE the Sherry Cervi Diamond Medium Shank lifter bit.

Work to get him off his front end of his dropping on you.

traininbarrelhorses.com is a great place to find tips but it would be awesome if you could find a professional in your area to take lessons from. They can give you some drills/ways to tune your horse and help you pick out an appropriate bit.

Otherwise you can talk to Carolina Bits on facebook. Kurt and Yank are happy to answer any questions and can advise you on what bits what work for your needs!

I have a mare that really wants to drop in. In my slow work I do reverse arc around the barrels as well as in dry work. Also in my slow work I will walk or trot to my rate point, stop and pivot away from the barrel and then continue to the next and then do the same when you get to your rate point. Mix it up with a regular pattern work here and there so he/she doesn't anticipate and is waiting for you.

I like the Sherri Cervi gags, the Charmayne lifters and the Martha Josey Go Round. The Josey Go Round has a mullen mouth so I find I don't get a lot of extra bend out of it but because of the gag action it will help hold them up into the turn.

Exact same issue I was having with my little cow bred pony.

Chris Martin clinic was a life saver, but go with an open mind, the need for lift is a rider created issue that a bit won't fix.

My 3 favorite bits for lift and balance with shoulder control are: Dave Elliot/Myllimaki 03, Goostree Pick Up bit by Classic Equine and the Twisted Dogbone Tommy Blessing Bit sold at NRS.
