| I have a short backed 6 year old that needs a saddle. I have a Caldwell Rocket and an Ultra that do not fit him. I love my Caldwells but don't want to wait a year. They are recommending a promax tree for him, no luck finding one used in the size I need. I have read several old posts about Tami Semas and a Roo saddle. Which sits most like the Caldwell's? I like how the Caldwell's sit wide over the shoulders and stirrups are forward hung. Do the Roos keep your feet forward? Thanks, any opinions appreciated. Also interested in the Allen Ranch. |

Find them on fb. Sit in one... You will NOT be disappointed. Nicole Love is out that way shes riding in one of Bret's. A lot of east coast ppl well be that way the American, including mike and janelle. Ask to try one on your horse or sit in one. You will be happy you did.
They will sit you like a Tami Semas but better NO JOKE. |

Location: NE Texas | You will love the Roo's. IMO they sit even better than a Caldwell. Yes, keep your feet right where you need them to be.....i'm a stickler about that and cannot ride anything that isn't set up that way. You sit down in them like you do a Caldwell. They too have different trees, some with more shoulder release than others. I have two of them on two different trees. Wish you lived closer, i'd tell ya to come try them! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have a gelding that is very short backed, all my saddles are a square skirt and just about hit his hip, I was thinking about getting a BTR Martins round skirt I sat in on at D&D awhile back like the feel of it and it has the forward hung stirrups and deep seat. But I tryed my older Deb Sibley on him and I thought the flex tree would bother him since hes such a picky fella and he rode really good in it but not a very deep saddle its a 4" cantel and all tooled so pretty slick saddle hes like a jack rabbit so I need a deeper seat on him, I ordered another Deb Sibley with a round skirt for him with a deeper seat... But check out the Martins BTR I like the looks of them, I dont know how they ride, but the seat felt nice and the stirrups sit like how I like them. |

My thoughts too on the skirting. My Caldwell's now swallow him, I definitely want a round skirt |

Yep the square skirts were just to much on him, round skirts are a better fit for this guy.. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I'm using a Shiloh Jerri Mann on my super short backed horse. The skirt is rounded enough not to gig his hip and I LOVE the way it rides. I did have to add a back cinch because his butt was bouncing the saddle forward--that's how short his back is. I've ridden ponies with longer backs than this horse. LOL |

Location: Montana | I have no advice, all I can say is I feel your pain. I need a saddle for one horse of mine...to get all the stars aligned to find one that fits her AND fits me seems to be nearly impossible. So all I can offer is sympathy. |

Location: S. California Beach | The Roo and Semas are made to go behind the shoulder.
Neither offer the built up ground seat like the Caldwell.
The Roo is flatter in the ground seat but forward hung stirrups (I believe) they also build very close to the tree so you feel "deeper". I have heard mexed reviews of friends moving from a Caldwell to a Roo and not feeling as "secure". If you are going to get a Roo made they have about 8 to 10 trees that you can choose from that will fit better than the Semas any day of the week.
The Semas has a little bit of a built up ground seat (if you are looking to get one the wide was still pretty high angled in the bars). |

Location: Glendive Mt. | I have an FX 3 that's fits amazing. It has a rounded skirt but not as short as a full round skirt so it fits even better. My mare was super hard to fit and the Martin FX3 fit her the best. She,was such a hard fit I actually took her to the saddle shop with me and tried everything on her. I tried Martin's, triple creek, Three forks, Pozzi, coats and others. A three forks might be another one. They are round skirted and fit great. |
