What do you use to keep the flies out of your barn? I'm considering feed-through and/or Pyranha SprayMaster Automatic Spray System (or similar). Does anybody want to give reviews?! :)

I had a spray fly system in my other barn, it worked great. I have an open barn and I did not put another one in, there is always a breeze and it just blows out. I sprinkle food grade diatomaceous earth in their stalls, works great.

The automated systems do work. The fly predators worked for us too.

This is my first year in my barn/house combo. I am worried about flies coming in the house and plan to start solitude IGR on mine as well as fly predators this year.

We have tried I think all different fly control and the feed through has worked the best for us. It really does work and keeps the larvea from maturing in to flys. We also keep our stalls and paddocks cleaned daily and haul off the manuer pile 3or 4 times through the course of spring summer and fall. We have very few flys at all. I also hang a couple fly traps out through the course of summer to catch any migrating in flys from neighboring property.

I think I'm going to try fly predators this summer. We sold the majority of our cattle which were one of our big fly generators. I've heard good things about the predators though, but that you need to start early and stay ahead of them.

You can order a sample of fly predators online to try. Forgot to add that the sample is free.

I boarded at a barn last summer with fly predators. We weren't allowed to use fly spray because of them, and the flies were INSANE!!!!! They weren't working at that place!

I wonder why you couldn't use fly spray with the fly predators?  I've not read anything about that harming them?

Pyranha SprayMaster fly system works for us. If I ever start seeing any flies, it's because I have ran out of spray! Plus it keeps the spiders & wasp from building inside our barn.

I did not have good luck with either fly predators or garlic. Last year I did a feed through and even though I got a little later start, I noticed a big difference...this year, I started the feed through in February.

We have had great results from the fly feed through. We have been using it for years and we hardly see any flies at all. You just want to make sure that you feed it on time/early in the season that way it is in you horses system before the flies come.

I feed my horses garlic. It's always seemed to work good considering they are right next to the cow pasture. The biggest problem I have is mosquitoes because we are right by a swamp.

I bought solitude, and think I'll add fly predators and see how it goes!
