I picked up a well known supplement by a reputable company. Many of you probably use this brand and I have always had good luck with them. I am pretty obsessive about expiration dates with feed and supplements and manufacturing dates. ( I won't use feed thats over 45 days old since bagged). lol I bought this flax based supplement for some extra weight/fat for one of my colts. Never noticed an expiration date or manufacturing date. There was a sticker on the bottom with a number so I called company. It was made April 2016 and I was assured it was good for THREE YEARS from date of manufacture. It was in a sealed container and all. But THREE years???? Thats crazy... I'm thinking I will just return it.

Since you are not happy with this product return it and get one thats fresh, after 3 years of sitting on a shelve I would think it had lost its charm.

Have you ever looked at canned goods in the store??  There's a reason they ask for them to be donated.  They are usually good for at least 2 years, if not 3.

If it's in a sealed container, I would think it would be fine, and if the product was good when you opened it, what's the problem??

When I worked at our grocery store in town we had to donate cans that were dented or scratched too. If a can is dented the FDA voids the exp date.

Are you worried about preservatives?  Bagged feed is full of them. It doesn't matter if you get it fresh or not, they are still there and still enter the horses body. Fresh or one day from the exp date, it doesn't matter.....

If it is THE, yes it has a really great shelf life. We as distributors used to stock up and sell from our own stock as it was cheaper for us and for our customers. 99% of the time though I drop ship, but send from my own stock if it is faster for my customer. I also stock up when they have sales...so I can continue my good prices. I to my knowledge have only shipped one product that was expired and I paid the customer to ship it back to me and sent them a new package. THE prides itself on excellent customer service so if we can in any way help out, give me a call. If in fact it is a THE product.
