 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | I'm about to brag on one of my barrel horses, and I've also got a couple interesting pictures to share.
My boyfriend rides bareback horses and he recently got a new riggin. He's been trying to break it in, stretch it out, set it up perfectly, etc., but a couple weekends ago, he said he needed to put it on a horse so he could see how close to ready it was. We looked around at 7 different horses and chose Clifford - my fruit loop, runs more than he thinks, off the track goofball - to be the riggin model. Matt figured it the new riggin was wide enough to fit on Cliff, it would work on any bucking horse. (1st picture was the trying on process)
The trying it on process went well, and tonight Matt came down to visit me with his riggin in hand. We cleaned the mud off Clifford, cinched the riggin down, and proceeded to trot and lope him around the indoor arena so Matt could work on his body position. Poor Clifford didn't seem too impressed (see second picture), but he stood perfectly still while Matt got his hand set, turned 90 degrees when I pulled on the lead rope, and loped different size circles while Matt practiced his spurring motion (without spurs of course). Maybe my favorite part was the fact that when 8-10 seconds had elapsed, I could tug on the lead rope, say Cliff's name, and he'd shrink his circle then come to a stop right beside me.
It wasn't a traditional ride or workout, but Cliff got a little exercise, showed us he can adapt to strange situations, and helped Matt get ready for rodeo season. I just had to brag on my big goofball.

yes!
....and then I took him to the barrel pen tonight.....he was back to stupid and I'm once again wondering if he's sore anywhere. UGH. He might just need to stay a pratice bareback horse. | |

Try a bag, which will last you 100 days of Lifeline Elite. It's pricey but it can be a game changer for some horses.
