Location: Wild Wild West | What dosage are vets suggesting for Legends. ( or what has worked for you.) loading dose first ?? If so, what dosage and after the loading dose how often.
Has anyone been told that there is a generic for Legends that works. Thanks for your opinions.
Where are the best places to buy it. I saw one place on the web for like $65 a vial. Are all legends the same? Would you be leary to buy it cheaper if it was in the same bottle?

| Legend only lasts 12 hours in a horses system. Loading dose would be pointless. Give the dose night before a run or morning of a run if it's a night race. That's it. There are lots of alternatives. Hytryl , polyglycan, map 5, I have used them all on various horses with a lot of success. |

When I did the loading dose on my horse I noticed no difference after the first dose. Slight difference on the second and 100% difference by the third. |

How much time between your loading dose shots. And after the loading dose how often do you give it? Monthly ? |

My vet reccomended the loading dose. Then monthly. I decided to use Pentosan. Every other week unless hauling. Then 2 days before. |

I thought Pentosan was in place of Adequan, not Legend. Now I'm really confused. |

Yes they work completely different. Legend does not actually get INTO the joint. Lots of people think when you give legend IV it adds to the synovial fluid inside the joint. It doesnt. It binds to receptors OUTSIDE the joint and reduces inflammation. Pentosan actually gets INTO the joint and reduce inflammation AND dissolve some arthritis present there. Depends on what your treating. For me, my young horses get adequan. It helps to maintain the good cartledge already present . Once a horse has an " Issue" pentosan is better. Legend works awesome short term, like 12 hours or less before a run. I have one horse that really responds well to polyglycan. Its a LONGER ACTING HA product.
Adequan= Maintaines and protects SOFT tissues.
Pentosan= Helps to treat BONY changes.
Legend= Reduces inflammation in a joint
Polyglycan= essentially its LONG ACTING legend.

Once a week for three weeks. Then once a month I would give it the Thursday before a show I usually go to one or 2 shows a month |

Do You think one dose of Legends 12 hours before a run will affect a horse? or would a loading dose a couple days before be needed? also how many CC do you give, 5? |

Legend is a 4cc dose. According to my vet and my personal experience it ONLY LASTS 12 hours anyway so giving it the night before a morning run or the morning of a night race is what she recommended. And she was a track vet so joints and racing are her specialty. She told me a loading dose was a waste of money/ |
