I'm trying to price a gelding- 9 years old, son of Dashin Bye out of a daughter of Runnaway Winner. Ran AAA on the track. Sound, no vices. Laid back, push style. Clean legs, great feet with correct angles. Trotting and loping the pattern. I just want to reasonable and don't sell many horses.

My hubby says a horse is worth what someone will pay for them....same horse not always worth the same to different people...price too low...people think there is something wrong with them......price to high you won't get interest. For me price depends on how broke they are and how safe they are. Sorry not much help on giving you a dollar figure. Has it been hauled? This is a huge training factor as well... Look and see what horses at similar stages are selling for. Should at least give you a ball park.

This is a loaded question and you will get every price under the sun depending on where people are from. You will get answers from $1,500 up to $15,000.

I would recommend researching some of the ads here and on Facebook.

Β If he's super quiet and safe for kids, I'd say maybe $2,500- $3,000-ish. Thats down here in FL. It seems to be hard to find a good, safe, SOUND riding horse. To me, he wouldn't really appeal to the serious competitor since he is 9 and only trotting/loping the pattern.

What's his size? That's pretty important. And "push style"? How does he have a style if he's only trotting and loping?

Pictures would be nice.

But size is really important. he's not worth nearly as much if he's a runt.

And you can start getting a feel for their "style" if they are loping the pattern.

I don't know. But what does that have to do with the price of this horse?

If this horse was beating Baby Flo there would be no need to ask about pricing because people would be beating down their door to buy it.

The market value of a prospect is influenced greatly by size.

He's got natural rate and wants to turn. Plus, he's one you have to pedal. That's where the push style comment comes from

I wasn't trying to be smart sir, I just wondered if BF was considered a "runt".

I've seen size directly effect the size of a horse. The smaller horses that are competitive and crazy athletic have a smaller selection of people that can ride them. I have a wicked athletic 14.1h gelding but he was so athletic, it would take the right person with a lot of experience and also very small in statute to ride him.

To the OP, I would say 3-4k if he is really well broke with minimal quirks. I typically stop looking at horses over 7/8 to pattern.
