With God all things are possible Posts: 3917	The radical notion " give up everything" Jesus nowhere says that being his disciple was easy... Quite the contrary. While the Gospel tells us that Jesus attracts large crowds, he does not pander to the people. He tells them the kingdom of God is open to all.. But being a true follower of Jesus is not easy and no one should sign up impulsively. Jesus makes it plain enough what is required, and people must respond accordingly. Jesus always did evangelism the hard way. The goal was never to attract the greatest number possible, but the greatest number of those with commitment , a small but dedicated company of commandos instead of a brigade of lukewarm draftees. Phiippians 3:13 one thing I do; Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Jesus was honest enough to tell that following Him would not be a bed of roses. Becoming a Christian, a true believer, doesn't keep us from lifes trials, but it does PREPARE us before, through and after them. The closer you are in your relationship with Jesus the more prepared you become. It is a daily process, to build a relationship with Jesus. Jesus assures His followers, if they have faith only the size of a mustard seed(.) they can do amazing things, and this the rarity of miracles can be attributed to the rarity of healthy faith. But the human fascination with power and the wiliingness to use it selfishly are reasons to limit our power to do miracles. We might forget that " our names written in heaven" and begin to worship ourselves, not God. We might cave to the pressure to use power the wrong way, a pressure Jesus resisted when Satan tempted Him. Those with their names " written in heaven" are the citizens of heaven, the saved people. " book of life" Revelations 20 Philippiams 4:3 Hebrews 12:23 So to " give up everything" is to follow Jesus and " gain everything" your eternity. To Jesus followers, Jesus is working a spiritual renewal by sending out his men to do deeds of compassion as He himself is doing. As you go through today think about Jesus' phrases " fishers of men" and workers of the harvest". In what ways can you play such a role? For it is WITH God all things are possible.
